Fujita SRI for 08+ 2.4l GTS CVT
So, i bought a fujita SRI a couple of weeks ago. It sounds awesome looks sweet and i notice gas milage gains and a little more power at higher rpms especially in conjunction with my greddy TI-C exhaust. I saw many people have had discussions about the SRI and CAI for the 09 GTS cvt and how companies dont make them. Well the Fujita SRI I bought says its for the 2.0L auto tranny lancer. (Since both the 2.4l and 2.0l snorkel and intake box/filter are basically identical i figured id try out the 2.0l SRI on my 2.4l. To my suprise when I open the box i take a look at the directions and at the top it says "applications: 2009 MITSUBISHI LANCER GTS 2.4L". So i did some research and hands on testing, so i installed the intake piping and it matched the intake opening on the 2.4L perfectly and the filter it came with was perfect size for the air needed for the 2.4L. The mass air sensor fits perfectly in the mount box, the only thing that i had to modify was the strut brace for the piping, it didnt line up with the threaded mounting on the engine block so i fashioned a brace out of the metal clip that holds the battery ground and it worked out perfectly. Ill post some pic's of the install and the instructions with the 2.4L on them if you guys are interested.

ok ill be the first to jump in on this.
where did you buy this intake ?
is this Version 1 2 3 or 4 (not sure if a 4th was made) of the intake.
Have you researched the long WELL documented history with Fujita intakes on the lancer ? (its not good)
Keep us updated on how it does, pictures would be great.

Well i bought this from RMS-USA I believe its the 3rd version ill look into that. I did do some reading about the intake and its applications to lancer models (even though most reviews werent good) but I gave fujita the benefit of the doubt (plus rms said if i didnt like it i could return it) and decided to give it a try. From my experience with it, its pretty solid, came with vibration urethane mounting hardware. I also looked into the rrm sri and they both look fairly similar in shape and mounting on the air mass sensor also with the air filter. I will be getting my car dynoed relatively soon so we will see what happens when I get it tuned. Ill post pics soon.

Well $160 seems fairly reasonable and competitively priced, and I have only good things to say about it so far. IMO it provides reasonable hp gains (even though there is very little hp gain on a sri), I do get better gas milage now with both my greddy tic and the sri, I did test both out individually and then combined. Both gave gains in hp and mpg.

i talked to Brian from RRM and he said that a SRI helps more with TRQ then HP. and i was looking at the fujita also. it is very reasonably priced and even the CAI from them is also.

I do notice more gain at higher rpms in the 3500 to 5000 range, better pickup and pull so yea RRM would be correct on that for sure! But its hard to gauge how much gains are actually there but it is definitely noticeable, also starting around 2800 to around 5000 there is a deep throaty sound to the engine pulling in more air which sounds very aggressive, you can also hear the suction when revving in neutral, and it compliments my greddy exhaust sound very nicely! Im sure if would sound nice with the RRM exhaust too.

That all sounds great until you throw a CEL "Check Engine Light"!!!! That is was Fujita is notorious for in the past due to their poor testing prior to placing their product on the market. I believe it was usually a MAF issue. I hope it works out. Maybe they resolved that condition, and have made a solid product. You are right about it being the shadow of RRM's product!

did you happen to notice that while it DOES say 2.4l it ALSO says applicable years 2008.
there was NO 2.4l engine in 2008 only in the 2009 lancer gts doesnt seem right to me

^Yes I did notice this its either a typo of the year or typo of the engine, but im not basing it on paperwork anymore, im basing it on real world performances and conditions. So far so good ive driven from long island to rochester twice(just drove up yesterday) and once back and I have had no difficulties (its ~360 miles one direction) Id say I have put at least 2000 miles on the fujita SRI and it hasnt disappointed yet.
