Drives: 2002 Lancer OZ

What engine is this?

I have a 2002 Lancer OZ, when i bought it, i was told the old engine blew and it was swapped with a 2005 engine. i figure its the same E 2.0 SOHC. I've read my car comes wit a 4g93 but when i look for headers i only see them for 4g94. If anyone is selling headers for this engine let me know.

What engine is this?

My car's VIN is ja3aj86e62uo48261

Looks like a regular 4g94... Did you look for the engine code?

engine code is inscribed into the metal on a little ledge where the engine bolts to the tranny on the front of the motor. If you look down in there you will see it in big letters and numbers saying 4g94. And btw, the g94 looks identical to the g93 when it has g94 accessories on it. Valve covers and everything are the same. Only diff is that the g94 is a little bit taller.

I hate you...

haha but thats not true... while i lack turbo knowledge i learned the header and manifold business in autoclass in highschool! so there! lol

inline 4 cyl = header/manifold pipe for each cylinder
v6 has headers one for each side...

im smarter than you think Marcus!!

Lot's O' hate here...

Back to the OP: Did you find out why the original engine "blew up"? I have almost 160k on my motor and have been boosted for almost a year now on a really crappy tune. I thought the motors were stout (I know they really aren't though ).

When you compare our blocks to many other manufacturers out there, they are in fact very stout blocks. Our rods and pistons really could have been designed a little better but hey, thats what aftermarket forged is for. Our blocks have a closed deck design meaning we have no need for things like block guards like the honda guys do. Our cylinders dont just "float" in coolant. Not to mention that it helps alot that our blocks are cast iron as well compared to others making theirs out of aluminum. Im sure you know all this but for those like justine that dont, its good info.

its a lancer not an evo.. love to talk about how good these engines are but these cars are ment to be econo boxes, not high performance vehicles. sorry to hear the old engine blew up but hey... u have a good looking 4g94, now turbo it so you have an excuse to replace the pistons and rods, lol! have fun!
