Its a 2009 Lancer GTS, 2.4L(4B12)

You can see some good gains too with a 2.0L, but the torque its always a lot lower than the whp, around 10-15lbs less. The 4B12 makes a lot more torque, tonight we did 165whp and 161trq at the wheels.

And something pretty interesting we found out, when we switch gas from 87oct to 93oct, we loss around 3whp at the top end and the car was pig rich with the stock fuel maps, the car ran leaner at high rpms with 87oct, still too rich for a Naturally Aspirated car, but leaner, and it did more whp.

So save your $$$, use regular gas! The car wont benefit from higer octane unless tuned.

Today we went back to the track looking for some better numbers! After spending a few hour on the dyno playing with the Mivec we now have a better torque curve with more area under the curve, the final numbers were 164whp and 163trq, definitely we are almost at the limit of the stock engine, to go higher we might need to do some head work or camshafts on the car, the stock engine its approaching its limit.

We arrived to the track and did the first pass without letting the car cool off or anything, this were the results:

After that we knew we could do 14 second passes in full street trim. Then we did some changes to get better 60 ft.

This are the only 2 passes we could make tonight:

We are very happy with the results, not bad for a stock engine with a few boltons. From now on the road to more horsepower is a lot more difficult! We will keep you guys informed! We definetely want more horsepower!

Ohh, and this time we went with the stock rims! LOL

^+1 What's next on the mod list? And how come you guys chose a drop-in and axle-back instead of a catback and CAI?

Because with the reflash we already achieved what we think its almost 100% of the volumetric efficiency of the engine. At this point we tested removing the catalitic converter and all the resonators and you know what happened? Almost nothing, we gained a few lbs of torque and lost a few whp on the top. We also tried different combinations of the intake, including no filter at all with a very short intake and achieved the same. We even tried better race gas, playing with AFR, etc. The only think we can do is gain a few whp at the top and loose a little torque on the bottom or viceversa. We think there is no way to extract any more serious horsepower without going with a ported head, camshafts, bigger valves, etc. With the stock engine we are already at its maximum efficiency. That is impressive with so little mods.

And I think you can understand that it simply doesnt make sense to have a very loud car and only gain 1-3whp and loose a little torque. We prefer to have a quieter car but a car capable of doing 14.9 to 15.1 in full street trim and 93 octane.

That doesnt apply to Lancers that doesnt have any reflash. We saw some gains with complete exhausts and intakes, mostly because of the AFR changes. Same thing that happened when we changed from regular to premium fuel.

A reflashed Lancer is a different story. Check out the custom intake we did, its the shortest intake possible using a mini battery kit, that thing sounds sick! But we are not using it because we really dont need it right now, it will be used in the future, for now the RallyArt scoop and EVO X radiator cover(has bigger holes for air to go thru it) are more than adequate to get some cold air on the engine, and the car is not that loud :

As you can see we are doing a lot of experimenting with the car.

Yesl, we are doing custom reflashes for many local Lancers. There are others in the same power range. Including Lancers GTS with the CVT Transmission.
