Another exhaust question... quiet exhaust
Not sure if this is the right section but anyway...
I have an 09 ES
I'm looking to replace the exhaust, i'm going with axel back
Problem is, i'm looking for a decently quiet exhaust, but with a nice sound, to get rid of the 'snowmobile' sounding exhaust now.
I'm thinking a magnaflow muffler but they have so many different mufflers to choose from.
I'm going to get it made at a local shop.
Can any one help? and yes i've searched the fourms
thx

I would recommend taking it to your local shop, and telling them what you are wanting, and what do they feel would be a good fit? Another thing I did with mine, is after they made the initial cut to rid the old axle back; I had the shop hold up different styles of mufflers and get a sense of what they would sound like. Obviously it is not a exact sound because they are not welded together yet, but it does give you a pretty good idea and way of rating the different styles. Look into Flowmaster also; they have a large selection for your application. It simply all comes down to personal preference.

Ya, thanks... I was talking to one shop and they said all the magnaflow's are the same on the inside so they all sound the same.... i mean they are all different sizes too and the pipes can go in on the same side or both sides of the muffler so it going to change the sound... he said they are all pretty much the same...
IMO they will all sound different...
do you have a sound clip of yours, because the 40 series is what i was also looking into

I'm thinking flowmaster 40 series, or 60 series muffler..
Not quite sure which one to choose.
I want it quiet, not raspy, but nice rumble

I no longer have my Lancer, so that is a negative on the sound clip. I always got compliments with the 40 series Flowmaster. Not ricey, or raspy, but just enough rumble to let people know you are there when you stomp on it. At idle, it is just like stock!

I'm using Greddy Spectrum Elite and when it idle it's really quite as if you're running on a stock exhaust , it also has a nice tone when accelerating
