4G94 Block, Who Makes It??

Basically is what it is. My buddy says our block is make by Kia, I wanna know for sure. He is very knowledgable but he mainly deals with 240sx and the sr20, and the rb20, rb25, rb26 etc. I have combed online to come up with nothing just the main spces of our engines, bore, stroke, compression, and so on and so forth. Anyone out there tell me for sure along with where they got the info from?

If you go to the link below and look off to the right, it states that the entire block series is manufactured by mitsubishi motors co.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_4G9_engine

Now I just happen to know for a fact that this will not settle your debate with your friend. People that are knowledgeable are also very stubborn. Im having a debate with a buddy right now about motor oil in transmissions and it doesnt matter how many people come on this forum and say not to use it, he still doesnt care and calls me stupid for not listening to him. Hopefully your situation ends a little better than mine but at least you'll have the correct knowledge.

Lol you are right I am sure he will argue with me and tell me where he got his info from and that it is genuine. The funny part is I just looked at this exact page not too long b4 posting this and i somehow missed that pic on the side showing the manufacturer

Your friend isn't the only moron that thinks this. Buy him a bicycle helmet and tell him to wear it whenever he's not in bed sleeping.

Lol. Yup told ya. I cant stand my honda friends cause they think that a mitsubishi is basically a effed over rebuilt honda. It doesnt matter how many times I tell them there are differences. I just like to know the facts.

Same here thats why I cam to the authorities on the subject. Even if it was built by kia I told my buddy its gonna be even more funny when my "Kia" Block blows past him in his "badass" SR20DET 240sx lol

Lol. I wish you the best of luck with your project. As much as Ive loved my lancer, Ive come to complete terms with the platform finally. As you can see in my sig, Ive spent a pretty penny or two on the car, more than I should have on the engine. There are a few unlisted items as well. Really hasnt gotten me anywhere other than it can handle beautifully. I have decided to go with a g64 swap as its cheap and sounds simple. Aftermarket support would blow open and parts would be cheaper due to more competition between manufacturers for the platform. Maybe we could get one of those new spectra motors? lol. Im sure its a direct swap since apparently kia makes our motors anyways. It sounds like hes trying to down your car a little. Ugh I hate that.

Thanks IMA, Ya I am thinking that if something happens to my motor after I put my FI in it I might go with the 64 too and I can still use most of the parts off of this build for it hehe. Ya he doesnt bust me up too bad but I still like proving him wrong from time to time especially when it involves my car. When I first told him about my build he asked why I didnt just get an evo. I told him first off my car is paid for and anyone can just go out and buy speed, second for literally between 6-7K including the price of my car I will have a hella sleeper. I said "think about it, you pull up at a light next to an evo, rev your engine and take off. basically you just want to see how bad you will lose lol, now if you pull up to my car and rev you engine your thinking, man I can take this guy for sure then BOOM!! I blast past him like no big thing" Now I think that is a lot more fun

Be careful talking like that in here as a lot of the people will flame the hell out of you for street racing. Im definitely guilty of it from time to time. lol. I lose more often than I win but whatev, no big. Im more about the cruise control nowadays. Makes other people look stupid to me when they challenge me and I just keep on cruising. Lol. The reason I wanted a lancer was just simply because I cannot afford an evo. But I like the look of both. Its too bad mitsu underpowered our cars but what can you do? It does feel good to prove people wrong. Im really bad at being a know-it-all to my friends but wouldnt have that problem if I didnt have such awesome support from all the members on this forum. I also think there is a certain respect you get from fellow lancer owners that most of the evo owners do not share with us. Which is too bad as I really respect the evo guys. I respect anyone wanting to build a car and enjoy the hobby and thrill. I used to have a tempo I pimped out for petes sake. lol. But you live and learn. I dont think I will ever own an evo as Im completely satisfied with this car and everyday we are getting more and more support for them. New stuff coming out all the time. Who knows? Maybe Ill just go for a dohc head swap if we get enough support by the time I can afford it. I may never have RWD or AWD but for what I want to do with the car, FWD is fine for me. Im not going to drag or anything of the sort. I just want a very nice, very clean car that can hold its own and gain a little respect from the tuner crowd we have around where I live. And isnt a tampon, I mean honda. Eek, sorry. Lol. We just have too many around here.

Nah dude I dont street race either lol just an example, those days are behind me I have a cousin who killed an old lady street racing,(totally accidental of course but this is besides the point and he payed his debt for sure) he was only 19 and trying to pass on the outside doing about 80 I think and WHAMM!!! Head on with her. You have no Idea the grief he has felt and will continue to have the rest of his life for one little mistake of hitting the gas instead of letting it go. No any racing I have ever done (besides in the pass seat of my buddys little nissan truck but cant do much about that) has always been on old deserted roads and such. I have to agree too it seems every time a new thread come up about turboing our cars most people on here with evos who chime in just say "Why didnt you buy an evo??" I mean come on not all of us can afford a 30k car. I would love an evo but I love building and working on stuff and just the experience I have gotten without even lifting my hood yet is phenominal.

I hear you with the street racing. Ive almost killed myself a number of times when I was younger doing lots of stupid ****. Ill still get into stoplights occasionally when there are hot girls involved or the likes just to try and show off being stupid ol me. lol. Old habits die hard. Anyways, ya Im glad I got the car I have because I think if I had bought a 30k car back in the day, I would have been less likely to tinker with it. This car had an exhaust system fabbed up for it two days after I got it. Ill never forget the look on my dads face. He was so excited I had a car that I wasnt going to mess with. Hes like that better not be what I think it is. I was like a hole in the exhaust? lol. Ya evo guys tend to be less then supportive. There are a few that are very helpful and alot of them enjoy watching us with our projects. But for the most part, I guess we shoulda gotten an evo. lol. Im used to it by now. Every forum Ive ever joined and alot of the local stuff even all say things like "interesting, why didnt you get an evo?" Its like "you have a civic? why didnt you get an s2000?" Or "oh you have a corolla? Why not a supra?" I dont care. I like my platform and thats all there is to it. And like I said, we are getting so much new knowledge everyday that these cars will end up being just as customizable as all the others out there. Just look at the DIY section. Insane. I love it.

Well put man, well put couldnt have said it better myself. Its all good though I have people who swear by dohc and despise sohc and rear drive only never front wheel. I dont really care what they think. If I like it thats all i care about, and I do lol. I like the fact that I paid $700 for my car and made it what it looks like now (It wasnt easy but it was rewarding and still wayyyyyy cheaper than any other car I have bought) My Exterior is done except for headlights, now I am doing the engine, then the interior, it still looks like cheap and beat up a little inside but still plenty descent.
