I need help
Soo. I got an 02 Lancer ES. Ive know for a while for my throwout bearing was bad, and today on my drive home from work, it slipped 2nd pretty bad mid gear. After that, I came to a red light and it was idling reaaaally rough and it died. Turn it back on and it dies right away. Starts up perfect though. Anways, I had some friends tell me that a bad bearing wont cause the car to die right after start up in neutral. we opened the hood and noticed that it was making some weird ass arcing sound, and pin-pointed it to this sensor, which we have no idea what it is. ALSO, the car had been off for a couple hours, and the sensor was still HOT. like reaaally hot. this is it btw.

its on the throttle body.
so I could really use some advice, and hopefully someone can tell me what that sensor is. could it just be the sensor? just the bearing? a combo of both? help/advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys.

That is your idle control motor. It's hot because of the coolant running through the throttle body. If your IAC is bad then idle is severely affected. However, you may only need to adjust your BISS and raise your idle.

Biss?
Also, the car had been sitting for about two hours prior to me looking under the hood. the whole engine was already cool, so it couldnt of been coolant.

It could be that the IAC isn't working anymore. Did you get a MIL light?
Oh and I live in Streamwood if you ever want to come to some meets.

I actually got it towed to a mechanic, and by the time it got there, the sensor reset because I left the battery unconnected. runs and idles fine now. still gonna get the clutch and everything replaced while its there though. and hopefully it doesnt go out again cause if it is the IACV for our car, its 650 bucks!
And OZ Rally, I know you off of Mitsu-Media(BringDownTheSky), the guy that moved to Florida haha.
