Quick 4g93 question about head bolts.
Hi, Im swapping heads on my lancer and I was curious about the head bolts. They say you should replace your head bolts every head gasket change. Im having a hard as hell time finding bolts for the lancer but I found a whole kit for the 4g93 in the mirage. Since the heads are identical, shouldnt the head bolts be identical. Yes I know I should get studs but I cannot afford them as I am on a layed off budget and have to replace my whole motor due to hydrolock. Yay! Thank you for your input.

All oem bolts are torque to yield, so meaning once its stretch "supposedly" you can't reuse them.
When you swap heads make sure you surface them by a shop.
head bolts between lancer and mirage is the same.
Head stud i used on my mirage is ARP head studs #203-4204 which is for a Toyota

Thanks. I bought a junkyard block. Im ordering a mirage head tomorrow cause my head had scarred valves in it from a while back. And I wanna see what all this hype is about the mirage cam. I wish I could afford studs but sadly it'll have to be just bolts. Ill upgrade to studs when I attempt the 4g92 head swap. I have a friend in japan that'll hook me up with the whole 4g92 motor with tranny and everything for 1200 plus shipping but thats down the road when I get a job. Lol. Anyways thanks for the info. I love this community.

Hey wait, is it still safe to use the old head bolts? I mean Im obviously not making large power and I have other plans for when I do anyways. It would save me 25 bucks and thats a lot of money to me right now. I just don't want to jeapordize my engine. It seems like one of those things thats a "recommended" practice but you don't have to do and if it would be alright to cut that off of my list of things to buy it would be a huge help.

Just get it to be safe.
If you're on a budget, then I would suggest you not to do any mods.
Sometimes things happen and can be way over your cost.
