A co-worker of mine is a aircraft engine mechanic, I on the other hand am a aircraft electronics technician so we had a debate on which is better. In a nutshell, especially in a turbo car, the few degree temperature difference you get between a CAI to a SRI is nominal, and the gains from a CAI are negated by the heat generated by the turbo itself. It is pretty much based on what the MAF is reading and telling the car.
I assume in a n/a car the difference can be a little different considering there aren't any other heat generating sources in the engine bay other than the engine itself.
