I am new to the 08 Lancer and modding cars. I just installed the Injen CAI and definetly is worth the cash. I found a store on e-bay that sold it for $275 dollars with included shipping. Definetly cheaper than anywhere I looked. Taking off the front get to where the filter sits isn't as hard as I thought. I love the sound it makes. Can't wait for my Greddy exhaust to come in...

I was talking to the Speedcorps guys and this is what they said

"Injen have what is called a Minimum Advertising Price (MAP) on all of their products. For the 08 Lancer Intake, the price is set at $312, so if we want to keep selling Injen products we have to list that price."

And when i told him that another website had it for $311.60 they said the following,

"This other website is breaching those rules and will recieve an email from Injen if they find out. We would have the intake listed for a lower price, which we had when the intake was first released, but because of these rules, we can't."

Hope that helps.

Could you help me better understand how a Short Ram Intake sucking in hot air from the engine bay can get better gains then a Cold Air Intake?

Send a message via AIM to cRc`22
especially when the RRM SRI has gotten lots of bad reviews.. its a 50/50 product.. RRM v2 seems like itd be better cause it will possibly be a ram air intake though

an sri will not give as much as a cai, a cai intake is ten times better because its sucking cold air, an sri only sucks the warm engine bay air

Where are you guys getting these numbers from? A CAI is not "ten times better", it's not like an SRI will give 1 hp and a CAI will give 10 hp. Here's something for you to think about. What happens when you stamp on the gas? Logically the engine creates a large vacuum and begins clamoring for air. What happens when that air has to travel through 4 feet of pipe to get to the motor? Lag. A SRI will generally show better throttle response than a CAI. The heat issue only becomes an issue after several hard runs and in stop and go traffic (and how much power do you really need in stop and go traffic?). When the car is moving, air is travelling through the engine bay thus making the difference minimal. There was an article posted a long time that dealt with this very issue and the numbers for a SRI where almost the same as the CAI except the CAI made a bit more power in the upper RPMs which isn't very useful anyways. As for asking for dynos, you're not going to pick up a difference on a dyno unless you start intentially trying to find one.

SRI and CAI are just two different products that do the exact same thing. As said, just buy the one you like.
