how to make an intake for a 2008 for cheap

so i made a custom intake out of a mazda3 2.3 cold air intake from ebay for only 68$ canadian shipped to me (35$ are from the shipping to quebec)

only have to twaek the adapter for the maf sensor a little bit, by this i mean i had to take a 1/8" thick plastic card and trace the adapter shape on it,glued it on top of the existing aluminium adapter then i had the proper height for my maf sensor inside the piping. you will also have to drill new holes to hold the maf in place.

second thing to do is to remove aproximately 5 inches from the first bent (opposite of vent tube) so you have the proper clearance for your air filter

last step, hook everything up, check for any leak before since it will trigger the check engine light, then start the car ,try it and appreciate the new sound

give the remaining of the cold air intake to your friend with a mazda protégé5 (familia)

pictures are here:

thats the modified maf sensor adapter

right to the throttle body!

Looks better than pretty much all the intakes out there for ur cars. I like that it fully replaces the intake pipe.

i will make a box out of heat resistant plastic i have laying here (aka fire resistant container) with a snorkel going to a high pressure point in front of the car or i will make the box out of aluminium fiberglass or carbonfiber still dunno, i will make something kinda like ARC does for the evo or scooby
kinda like this :

i love the look, you know you actually have better airflow now, since you removed the rubber tube, since the rubber tube had those edges inside it was cousing the air to spin, it wasnt forced directly into the throttle.

That may be actually bad. Depends really. They may be to lower entry pressure and/or to create vortice for better mixing... see that on some other cars, euro and us (such as the GP).
