Whats best now?

Okay, I got my engine all rebuilt with lower compression and stage2 cam and I dont plan on going turbo for a while. It needs a tune really bad and I was wondering what would be the best thing to do. I had a piggy back a while ago but it didnt go very well with the stage 2 cam. Maybe the version 2 piggy back? Any help on what I can do to get my car running right would be great. Thanks.

^Exactly, I would be willing to bet part of the reason your car is sluggish is because you lowered the compression which for an NA engine is retarded. You won't be making good use of the cam and I doubt a tune will help.

you straight f'd i think, think of it like this, if the block had higher compression it gains power, and now it will LOSE power and the cam is a stage 2 turbo cam, man this is gonna be a ride

how about this, you send me your WHOLE engine and i'll have mine sent to you mmmkay?

SAFCII. I wouldn't want to feel my car with lower compression...

Okay, how'd you lower the compression? The de-compression HG? Pistons? Both? What did it approxiately drop it to?

The sluggishness is purely the fact that it's not tuned. Okay, so lowering the compression will help in that factor, but as much as people think... But tune it with the V.2 PB, WORKS, ECUflash, etc etc.

BTW, I understand why you did this "way" before the turbo kit... Cuz you could only afford this for right now! Building cars on a budget require sacrifices like this, so just bare with it for the time being.

Good luck

Yep... just get a tune... maybe a reflash to get you over the hump, so you can save up for a standalone which should be your ultimate goal. Good luck with it!

Reducing your compression should have very little in the fact that your car is running crappy. I rebuilt my motor, lowered the compression and ran NA for months before turboing it, and the car ran just fine.

Do you have your cam degreed in? Also you may need some sort of fuel control to help with that cam and those mods.... get something that can help you if yo ugo turbo, like Emanage at the very least.

This is , but how much did they charge you to do the rebuild?

Or how much does an average re-build cost?

When I rebuilt mine, most of the labor was done by a great friend of mine aka Quadzilla and myself.

Forged rods / pistons - 1100
Boring the block, honing, lightening crank, balancing assembly - 300
Piston rings mounted with correct tolerances - 80

However, when I did it, I also refreshed all the gaskets and seals, so I bought a full gasket / seal kit from the stealership (I got it at cost though, but cant remember that price), and changed all the seals like the rear main, the headgasket, the valve cover gasket etc etc

So factor in about 1700 - 1800 bucks (gives you some wiggle room) for a full rebuild. Not a cheap venture if you are going forged, but if you plan to run big boost (like I did), it is more of an investment than a hassle.

Now if you are just rebuilding, not going forged, 500 bucks is more than enough of a budget.
