DarkMitsu's 4g64 Swap Page
you dont need custom axles. Senate confirmed the differential part numbers. if you just swap out the diff's and keep the eclipse gears you should be able to keep your Lancer axles.

OMFG!! THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

***CORRECTION***
The driver side Ralliart axle WON'T fit. As it turns out, its not the differentials that are the same part #, but the diff cases. Both the Ralliart and 3G Eclipse use a different spider gear set for the diff. I'm sorry for all the confusion. The best and most simple solution at this point is swapping the Lancer front diff into the Eclipse transmission and using the stock Lancer axles.

The passenger side axle won't work because it utilizes an intermediate shaft, which the 4G64 and 4G94 didn't. Evo axles won't work because both of the inner CVs are female due to the transfer case.

Thanks for that clarification senate, You are a wealth of mitsubishi knowledge , How do you know all this stuff ... I think I'm gonna go with the differential swap route I figured out how the trans comes apart tonight , you wont need to pay top dollar to a transmission shop to do this for you...

Drives: 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally

So I read most of the 39 pages of this thread and like others I've come to the conclusion that an engine swap into my 2002 Lancer OZ Rally would be more cost effective than going turbo on the 4G94 (sorry RRM). I've begun the process of looking for parts and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations as to where to get them (for a rebuilt engine on eBay its about $1,200+). Also does the engine have to be from a specific car? There are a dozen or more makes that use the 4G64.

I also have two NA mods (K&N SRI and RRM pully). Would I be better off returning/selling them or could they be useful somehow?

My car has an automatic transmission, but from what I've read I can "easily" swap to manual OR keep it automatic if I choose to. Is this correct?

Rpm, what NA mods did you have for the 4G64? Was it everything you listed on the frontpage or were there more you had to get you up to 164 WHP? I'm sure you've answered this many times but I couldn't seem to find a clear answer anywhere ...

And I know it was 3 years ago but sorry about the car! What are you driving now?

The answer is there bro...you need to read again...

In any case, he is currently looking for a shell to get the swap done again.
