RRM piggy-back ECU

I am in iraq right now but i went home on leave a month ago and i had ordered some parts and they were waiting on me when I got home. i got a injen axle-back, injen CAI, RRM aluminum crank pully, RRM timing control box, and I also got the RRM Piggy-Back ECU. I installed everything but the piggy back. I could tell a huge difference with everything but only after 3500 RPM and a little off the line. but i have not installed the piggy back yet because you have to splice wires to the ECU and it will VOID EVERY WARRANTY on the the car. also it is not 50 state emission legal. so with that said i am going to have to wait till i get 100,000 miles on the car. kinda lame. i wish there were just plugs and no splicing wires. if anyone has installed it have you taken it to get inspected and what gain did you get out of it?

Honestly i have not installed a piggyback yet but plan on gettin one, and i wouldnt worry about the void warranty, it wont void everything and the likeness of it messing up your car is slim to none, and i doubt they would even find or know your wires were spliced.

It would be impossible to make an adapter for this product. It really isn't that hard. Cut a few wires, remove the insulation tips, twist them together, and put a little solder on each part. Tape and mount.

Mine has passed 2 inspections in TX.

When I spoke with my dealership I asked them about the piggy and warranty. They said it wouldn't hurt my warranty unless it was causing the problem. Then in that case I'd just have to take it off and put the wires back to stock. If the issue turned out to be the wiring then they wouldn't allow the warranty to cover that issue. In no way can it hurt your car if you use common sense. The stock maps on it are all within range and won't hurt anything.

Talk to your dealership and let them know where you stand. Most of them are cool and car lovers like us.

Also, my piggy is for sale and can be re-programmed by RRM for $40 if you want a good deal.

you got the header for sale? I want it if you do, and as goes for the piggy, if it was ready for my m/t i would get it, dont want to go thru the trouble of sending it to rrm.

Back on track

Im just trying to get this thread back on track so i am wondering is whats the best way to go rrm piggyback for 240$ total or pay 419$ and get works flash? I called works and they told me that i would not be able to use my timing control box by rrm, so i would have no use of it, so whats better spend 240$ on piggy and be done with it or spend 419$ for a flash, sell my lil box for 200$ and come out really only spending 219$ for it? I cant decide, i want what ever i can get more hp/tq from

sending it to RRM wouldnt be that much of a hassle plus it would work with your timing module. The works flash is good but has only proven good gains on the 2.4l engine. i think for the 2.0 the gains are minimal and you wouldnt get the full effect at least for 419 bucks. to get the full effect of a works flash you would have to go to their facility and have them do a base line dyno then do a dyno tune.

also with the rrm piggy back any reputable tuner can help you safely tune it for more power (i dont know the extent of what the piggy back can do) but it would be cool to be able to change maps from more fuel efficient to more power when you need it.

Did you feed your lancer with RRM piggy already? 100,000 miles is a lotttt..why dont you sell this to me ;p ?
Seriously, i make 37,000 miles in a year. so for 100000 is at least 3 years. A new version of piggy may be up by then.
