help with iac valve...
my idle air control valve has been going out for almost 2 years now... its use to only act up every once in a while, after a long drive or on really hot days.. my idle would start fluxuating between 400 to 700 rpm... well the last couple weeks its been doing it pretty much every day.... ive been shopping around for one but they usually run about $300 to $350. i found what i think is an iac valve on rpw for about 165 au. whitch is about $135 american... just want to be sure it is what i think it is before i order it because they call it something different..."idle speed control motor"... does anybody know if this is indeed what i need?
heres the link...

Doubt it's the IAC. Check your throttle cable first, there is an extremely common problem with the cables sticking when hot

Hey, my cars been pulling this too. It will actually only go down to 1000rpm and fluctuates between 1k and 1200. Then, if you tap the gas while its idling like this, it'll go down to about 650, and fluctuates between 650 and 750. I thought it was just because I have a coolant bypass mod done but it didnt do it last year. No cels either. I have an extra iac i could use if we really think this is the case. And no its not my throttle cable sticking. That would just hold it above normal idle rpm, not cause it to fluctuate.

Hey just curious but what does your car normally idle at? And yeah definitely try swapping it out if you have a extra one laying around..

um i think it seems to idle normally at 650, albeit i do have a stick and they seem to idle lower than automatics.

yeah same here... but thats weird that it never set off you cel... but mine use to do the same thing, it would raise the rpm up to around 1k like it was trying to prevent the idle from fluxuating.. but wont even do that anymore.. it just fluxuates between 450 and 650/750
