I don't know how similar/different the two MIVEC systems are on each engine, so I can't say. At this point the only option would be to try it out and see what happens.

why the sudden change of heart?
I had suggested this and there was alot of resistance.
Fact is the lancer maps are too small to do the turbo setup properly. But what do I know.

Alot has changed since I last tried to get an Evo ECU running on my car years back. After the idea was brought up I decided to dig back into it and was able to resolve the issues that I ran into before. So I picked up another Evo ECU and gave it a go.
It's truly astonishing that no one has gotten this swap running before. It seemed all too easy this time around.

maybe this time IT wants you to do it
we like turning our cars into little "franken-monsters" but if we didnt do that we'd all be bored and driving hon-duh's

Good move, now there is a viable cheap solution to tuning the lancers without the expense of the AEM.

Shouldn't this work with an automatic also, since I have been told the transmission has a different computer?

Technically yes. But it will involve more work with the wiring as Lancers with auto trannys have some wiring differences from Lancer with manual trannys.

***** UPDATE *****
My car is now running solely on the Evo ECU. I drove it around to do some logging and was seeing knock into the high teens on no boost acceleration. A little tuning on the fuel tables eliminated that. WOT pulls feel very strong and healthy and showed only a tiny spot of up to 3 knock.
I will be tuning more as the weeks go on to get it dialed in just right. But for now the car is driving great with no complaints. I can't wait to see if it gets better with more tweaking!
Anyone else have anything to report?

***** UPDATE *****
So day two finally brought on the CEL I was expecting for the wastegate solenoid (since Lancers don't have them). I don't know if the mad scientists in the EcuFlash forums have discovered/created the ability to disable this feature in the ECU so it won't cause a CEL if removed or disconnected.
Also, I realized on my way home from work that I was unconsciously using my cruise control on the highway. So the verdict is in on the cruise control.
Besides the CEL, I can't even tell the difference between the Evo ECU and stock Lancer ECU. Which I shouldn't, as the only real difference (and advantage) that is relevant is the use of much larger fuel/ignition tables and that the Evo ECU interprets both vacuum and load from the MDP sensor. Datalogs confirm my load %'s being around 160% or so.

Senate: did you copy paste your old maps from the lancer rom into the evo rom?
Or are you running off the stock evo 8 ecu values? Such as MAF scaling, MAF smoothing, etc

ok so according to the lancer service manual, the only difference between the A/T ecu and the M/T ecu is the A/T doesn't use the "vehicle speed sensor" pin 86 for the M/T. would this still be possible to do?
