Upgrade the rad?

Hey all. Has anyone ever looked into putting an aftermarket radiator into a base Lancer? I know Mishimoto makes a nice one for the EVO. Someone once told me "absolutely not - can't be done", but never gave me a reason. Is the stock rad on the EVO that much different than the Lancer?

Trying to find some different kinds of upgrades for my GTS...

Why would you want to change the radiator?

Maybe I'm mistaken, but wouldn't a performance radiator be lighter and circulate colder fluid?

Well believe it or not my stock Radiator cooled/cools better than a KOYO rad I had in my car. I couldn't believe it I now currently run the stock one.

How much lighter can a aftermarket radiator really be? They are all made out of cheap plastics now days, and the fins are thin as can be aluminum. I would think adding a addition fan would work better for cooling purposes if that is what you are really wanting out of all this. I see electric GT you are from Nova Scotia, Canada? How hot does it really get up there to have the need for additional cooling?

Ridiculously hot. Seriously though I'm not a tuner. I see more parts around for the X than the Lancer, one of which being a "better" rad. Just fishing if it's worth considering.

You guy's do alot of fishing in NS? You may need to upgrade the RAD if your in the middle east or pushing serious power, but you should be good don't waste your money there, do Wheels it'll make your car look much better!!

Ha ha . Everyone always says change the wheels. I personally like the wheels (although they're even better with the Mitsu logo painted red).

I've got some other cosmetic changes in mind anyway (grille, maybe the hood), and changing the exhaust soon.

I would personally get a spare set of good winter tires.........to help you travel through those cold icey/snowy days. Also upgrade the suspension. Maybe add some PVC piping to the front grill for deep sea fishing! LOL Good luck, but would stick away from upgrading the radiator, and use your money on something more effecient. Better brakes, sway bars,................. intake

Yeah the winter tires were the first big purchase, along with the electrified rust blocker. The car isn't new to me, I've had it more than a year and a half. I'm just thinking of making more power now.

No this car gets a better treatment that my first car.

A device under the hood sends a charge throughout the frame of the car several times a minute. By keeping the frame electrified, all body panels and the frame should never rust. Only the brakes show rust.

Sounds like a counteract. Is this the one from Canadian tire? I forgot what its called. My buddy who works for road salting company said the entire salter fleet has this thing and its amazing.. OK back to topic -- I was thinking about this rad upgrade to.
