WORKS Eco Flash now available

In an effort to help out with high gas prices and stressful economic times WORKS has released a new Eco Flash for the 2008-2009 Mitsubishi Lancer.

Designed for people who want better gas mileage without changing their driving habits, this flash modifies air/fuel ratios in open loop as well as acceleration enrichment to improve fuel economy roughly 20%. As an added bonus this flash will gives a gain of around 5 horsepower to the wheels (tested using 91 octane). This flash is compatible with 87 octane fuel as well as higher grades; it is also compatible with modifications including our WORKS Drop-in Filter and Axle Back exhaust. Price is $149

Note: The Eco Flash does not modify closed loop mode, it does modify tip-in acceleration and Open Loop.

i was playing around on the works website and couldn't find the information. when you order this flash or the other flash for the added horsepower, do you have to send away your car's brain all the way to California? i noticed ya'll have some locations throughout the US and partner sites. do any of the other locations do the flash? specifically asking, the location that is in mesquite texas? thanks for the help

Sorry,
The Eco Flash isn't up in the store yet but it will be soon. You can phone the order in though, or order the normal flash and specify that you want the Eco in the notes field and we'll modify the cost to suit for the time being. For right now we only do mail-in flashes or drive-in. The engineers tell me they are working on a remote solution but won't reveal much more. If you overnight it to us and pay for return overnight shipping it usually means your car isn't off the road for more than a couple days.

Hope this helps

I would definitely do this but I use my car everyday so even a couple days is too long. Please let us know if theres a way to do it quicker if/when that comes about.

Just to confirm though, this would work with the 2009 2.4L engine?

Also this would void my warranty right? -- probably a turn off for most since it's a brand new car

We can flash both the 2.0 and '09 2.4 liter motors.
The flash is undetectable by the dealership and can be reprogrammed back to stock at any time so it shouldn't void your warranty, and we offer a factory matched warranty on our parts, in other words if there is an issue with a part you got from us we match the existing Mitsubishi warranty for your car to apply to the part you got from us.
It also should be noted that we havne't had any warranty issues with any of our Lancer Flashes.

Wait a minute, I thought you guys would take care of the return overnight shipping and we just had to pay for shipping it to you overnight?

Not sure how big the ECU is, but its cost us Canucks about ~-$70 next day noon - ~$150 nextday AM to ship each way, in addition to the $450 flashing charge. Yikes, thats a lot to get few HP gains .
I guess I will have to wait for a remote flash option.

Where is our ECU at? Is there directions on how to remove it? I heard they are $1,200 to replace so we should probably insure the overnight pkg for that as well just in case.

Sorry, for going offtopic,... its $149 for the ECO flash and $450 for the "performance" flash. Shipping price still remains the same!.
The point i was trying to say is that, It would really be nice if WORKS covers the return cost while we cover the sending cost.

I don't figure out the pricing but I do know that there is $$$ bottom line and if we cover the shipping cost we would have to add that into the overall price to make that bottom line which would certainly upset customers, especially one's that live in closer states. I wish I could cut down the shipping costs, but it is what it is. Maybe you can find two other people who want the flash as well and split the shipping 3 ways.

Has anyone done the Eco flash. I really like this idea and was wondering what the outcome was with the drop in filter and ab exhaust. I would think it would gain more than 5hp and same 20% mpg gain?

brake away mounting bolts

I was seriously looking into having the eco flah done, tell I tried to remove mine. What I found out is that lancers sold to canada ,the ECU is mounted to the bracket with brack off bolts. So the only way to remove it is to drill them out.Which is a bit off a hasle and I would think the Techs at the dealership could tell very easily that you have removed the ECU. Now I also don't understand why it's only Canadain cars that have this.Which makes know sence at all Can anyone confirm that lancers in the don't have the brake away bolts like the one in Canada. And if so have an idea why. Maybe us Canadians can't be trusted LOL

Lancers in the US do not have the brake off bolts.

However we have had a fair number of Canadian customers "going for it" sending us their ECUs with bracket attached and all!
