Any one has tried an SAFC so far?

Apex'I Super AFC II SAFCII (Digital) Fuel Computer

The A'PEXi Super AFC is the industry standard for sub-computer fuel control. It is designed to fine tune and squeeze power out of existing engine setups by allowing the user to modify the fuel curve with precision accuracy. Since the act of simply bolting on performance products does not make horsepower, the S-AFC allows the airflow meter/pressure sensor signal voltage going to the factory ECU to change the amount of fuel injected. It utilizes a VFD (vacuum florescent display) to display critical data in three different modes; numerical, analog, and graph.

Numerical mode allows the user to monitor up to four different parameters in numbers and also shows peak hold values on demand. Analog mode displays up to two valued in an easy to read meter style display. Peak hold is also included in this function. The graph mode offers real time graph plotting with a ghost map trace feature built in. The graph can replay movement up to 60 seconds.

Also displays:

Air Flow Capacity

Engine RPM

Throttle Position

Pressure Sensor Voltage

Karmann Frequency

Air Flow Meter Correction

Tech Notes: The AFC comes preprogrammed with most of the commonly used airflow meter/pressure sensor maps. By setting the AFC to one of these base programs, the user is able to adjust injected fuel mounts by +/-50%. Eight user defined RPM adjustment points allow maximum tuning in 500-RPM increments. Fuel can also be adjusted for part and full throttle situations.

Model#: APEX-401-A911-S

Pros Cons any one any thing , just came apon one in ebay so opinios!

i am sure its possible with the Manual transmission, but the CVT may freak out if something trys to override it.

That CVT has a brain as big as the primary ECU.

I've heard that it's not compatible with the 2008 because of the ECU. But I haven't seen any hard data on that yet.

I'd love if it worked. It's nice to have just for the data it shows (speed, RPM, knock, etc).

It should work, it simply alters the MAFS signal like other piggy backs. Some features like the the knock reading and such may not work, but it didn't work on the 2g eclipses either.

i simply don't quite swallow those aftermakert computer and piggyback things...if a matter of small programming can make the engine more fuel efficient while at the same time more powerful, why oh why wasn't this tuned at the factory???

Since it's a matter of tuning, it shouldn't cost the factory any extra thing.

So i am putting my money on the factory settings coz i trust they are the best

Tuning wise you would get far better results with an Emanage or Emanage Ultimate over the SAFC2, u can do more with it for about the same price

isn't tuning a racecar. They're tuning a family-friendly econobox that they can sell to a 16-year-old OR his 88-year-old grandmother. They tune for a happy mix of HP and MPG. The people on this forum tune for HP only. Comfort and MPG be damned.

Factory settings are not "the best." They're a happy medium. I could use an SAFC and make my car more powerful AND more fuel efficient than it is now.

I can't tell if you're agreeing with me or not. But that's how business works. The Lancer is a car for anybody. That's why you see a lot of folks with gray hair driving them...

Not only that, Mitsu tunes them down to have a higher level of reliabilty withthere cars.

If everyone of them was tuned to the max, there would be a lot more failures, warrenty issue's.
