Question concerning Subwoofers/enclosures.
Hey everyone. I'm probably gonna be getting some kickers here soon and I was just wondering if anyone has had a pro audio shop create them a custom enclosure for the 08 GTS trunk. If so, how does it look/perform compared to those standard vented enclosures they usually sell? I'm planning to get 2 L7's. In my previous car I had a problem with the enclosure sliding around in the trunk. Would there be a easy and effective way to keep it planted in one spot?
Sorry for all the questions :P

look at my cardomain (link in signature) and you will see my L7s in a custom built box. it was built to Kicker spec as well so it was very loud. Also, it was built by me It fit in there so tight and was so heavy that it did not move even a millimeter the whole time it was in my trunk!

I used door hinges and self tapping screws to go through the metal in the trunk

haha yeah i had to drop kick it into my trunk to get it in there. but i didn't really care about my trunk, i was willing to use my backseat for groceries and other stuff for 135.7+ db
you could always make it a sealed box and still be really loud without having a 6 cu. ft. box lol

The more I think about it, I think a 15" would be more than enough. I don't want too much rattle (I'm going to fatmat/dynamat) plus with me heading to California soon I don't know how strict they are on "LOUD NOISES".
The sub brands I've been eyeing are Kicker, JL Audio and Memphis Audio. I wonder which would give me the best "bang" for my buck.

I just checked out your car cardomain, Arent you supposed to seal the door completely with the insulation instead of leaving the openings? Otherwise very nice/ clean build.

well with a 15, it will require a bigger box anyways, keep that in mind! lol and I had about 3 layers of fatmat on my trunk lid and 1 layer each on each door, under the back seat, and in the trunk itself everywhere. Also, it depends where you buy the subs from. I got both my subs brand new for 377 shipped and my hifonics 1600 watt amp for 209 shipped and yes, i got 2 sound tickets when i had my subs in lol

yes you are, but then there would be nothing for the material to stick to. Although now that you mention it, I maybe could have made some cardboard cutouts or something....ehh w/e haha
