The iPod connects the same way as any MP3 player connects. The cable end is a standard size audio jack. My Zune player works fine with my iPod cable.

Sorry for the late response!

My navigation has somewhat like an AUX jack but I'm not sure. When I push the open button, it shows on the left corner of the navigation unit. Would anyone know what this is? And I do have AUDIO/VIDEO jacks already below the AC Controls, are those usable for my IPOD? I have tried it, but the sound isn't too great.

Two things...well three

1) Great write up
2) The hazard light switch does not have to come off, it comes off with the faceplate. Plus the little wire that goes from the hazard switch to the controls is a ***** to put back in place when it comes out...and is necessary as I found out. Stupid thing is the power to the whole radio controls
2) I thought the holes where the wires were suppose to go were already taken too. Then I realized that you count right to left and not left to right...so heads up for that.

Overall awesome sound. And sorry for the guys that had to pay for theirs, *****ed alil to my dealer and got mine for free plus fog lights and bluetooth. Now to install the fog lights...

mine has that connector in that location too. I'm guessing these guys didn't have it installed when they got their cars... or maybe the RCA Aux inputs might be part of the "premium sound" system...

either way, not all '08 Lancers has Aux inputs pre-installed.

i have this on my lancer too

I tried buying a cheap aux cable from pep boys for like 10 bucks, but the connectors would fit into my ipod, but were too big to plug into the aux connectors, SOMMABIATCH!!!

so do i have to buy a cable from the dealership, or can i get one someplace cheaper from like frye's or best buy?

I have the GTS without the sun and sound... so i don't have those ports below the headunit... do i need to buy that $50 cable accessory? Or do i just need to open it up and bring/reroute the cables, if indeed present, out of the glove box?
