Popping sound from amp

well, power and signal aren't on the same cable. it's the turn-on lead and the signal that are bundled on this one cable that's stock with the car. but my guess is, it's the same thing and that the accessory lead that ive connected to this turn-on lead is dirty, and/or the signal wires aren't shielded enough.

im thinking im gonna have to rewire this beast

Ask one of your friends to borrow a head unit or purchase another one from the store and try it to see if yoiu got a bad head unit. If the new deck does the same thing, its gonna be a problem with your car or wiring in between the head unit and fact. amp. And ground your head unit anyway. I dont believe in antenna grounds PERIOD. They work but I do it the correct way. If your new deck has a ground wire, ground it. Good luck boss.
