Question Turbocharging an old Lancer
Hi, I have a 1991 Lancer with 1.8 litre engine DOHC.my question is : is it possible to turbocharge the 4g67 engine that i have?
i'm sorry if this is a little of the topic since this thread is not about the 2002 lancer...

Drives: A little red Neon. I also have a Lancer that presumably still rolls...but doesn't drive.

There's no real section for those Lancers. It's probably fine right here. Out of curiousity what country do you live in? You can TC pretty much any car, but if the kit isn't in existence and there are no similar cars with kits you'll have to get a good amount of custom piping done.

i'm currently in asia,but from what i've been hearing is it true that it is easier to TC a DOHC than an SOHC engine.i dunno bout the kit i was hoping you guys could help me out btw could you explain more about the custom piping,wouldn't that take a lot of space???

I have seen turbo kits on SOHC engine achieved major success before. Basically, how you set it up is the major issue.

For older generations engines, the most important thing BEFORE going turbo is to make sure your engine is in optimal condition. Since it's a 10 year car. You might want to get a complete service/check up first, replace all the wear and tear....

RPW (racing performance warehouse??) worked on Mitsubishi for quite a bit, they might have something for you. If not, they should be able to point you to the right direction or customize their own kits to suit your needs

I recently got a clutch replacement, belts, spark plug cables and other little things that wore up, but i'm gonna take your advice and get a complete check up. btw could anybody post a link about turbocharging guides?

p.s : I'm gonna check out RPW

They are real big in mirage tuning, they might have something for you though.
