Help creating my turbo kit

I recently bought a used evo X turbo andam thiking bout putting it in my car.
A problem I'm havng is tha the wastegate is set to open at 11 PSI. From what I understan this means that the pressure will never go under 11 PSI even if I use a boost controller.

-I've thought about buying the ATP O2+Downpipe where you can hook up a Tial external wastegate and block off the internal one.
-Another solution I think would be to adjust the wastegate actuator to a lower presure, but I'm not sure that will work.

What I want is to run the turbo at low boost (3 PSI) and then up the boost when I get a tune. Anyone know what I can do?

You will need to change the spring in the wastegate to run a lower PSI.

Ok, but I'm not sure I can change the spring in the internal wastegate.

I could get an external one but its going to be a lot more expensive.

Unfortunately I don't know about changing out a spring in an internal wastegate, but I will search around to see if I can find something.

As for the external one it would be more expensive since you would have to not only get the external wastegate but a manifold that supports an external wastegate.

Edit:

There is the actuating rod on the internal wastegate that can be adjusted, but if you don't know what you are doing I wouldn't advise this. I would take it to someone who has done it before.

IF the stock internal wastegate actuator rod IS adjustable, you can do it that way, but it might also let the wastegate itself be slightly open most of the time due to the lower pressure.

and ill be in melbourne this weekend if you want to meet up man!

Thanks for the help guys. Actually I'm thinkin of the evo x manifold which will fit since I purchased a head flange from the evo x and it matches perfectly to my stock header. As for the external wastegate I'm thinkin about this:

Which will cost around 800 bucks total which im not lookin forward to.

Awsome cory. Sorry I haven't called, I just got back to the U.S a while ago, I was on vacation. I' ll give u a call on the weekend see if we meet.

alright cool, lookin forward to it

idk about that wastegate setup, the wastegate must come before the turbo, not after it, thats why it always comes off the headers. i say (if you can) modify the stock header you are getting to accomodate an external wastegate. i.e. drill a big hole in the header near the flange (where all the pipes meet) and weld some pipe in to go to the wastegate.
