16g Turbo

Ok so Im thinking about turbocharging my car. I made a list of what I think I will be needing. This is going to be low budget build for now, stock internals. I want to run about 7 pounds of boost. My question is, what will I need other than this, or what will I not need? Am I on the right track? Is there cheaper ways besides non-intercooled?

What I need

-Used Evo 16g Turbo with hotside
-Speedcorps Turbo Manifold
-Used Evo downpipe
-Speedcorps Forged Wastegate Actuator (is there a cheaper one or does the evo one work?)
-Speedcorps 7-10 LB spring
-Smaller Intercooler... keeping crashbar
-Used Evo intercooler piping
-BOV (pretty sure a recirculating one? Any other specifics?)
-Walbro 255 Fuel pump
-Oil lines
-Fuel pressure regulator (do i need this? a certain type?)

and im not 100% about these

-Turbo ECU piggyback (other options? could someone direct me to a cheap one, or the best one for the money?)
-Injectors(do i need these? what kind?)

Sorry theres a lot of questions, I just want to be sure. This will be in a couple months if at all, so I will have a lot of time to research more.

dont forget about all the gasket's turbo to manifold, manifold to head , turbo to o2 dump. Also do you have gauges? wideband o2, oil, boost? hope that helps.

Lookin Good with the list so far, You will need an adjustable wastegate, the stock Evo 8 one cannot be lowered. For the BOV its best to recirculate, otherwise you will be running into stalling issues. The evo XIs have a really good metal one that you can get used for around 65-85, or the cheaper plastic evo VIII ones will work just fine for around 20.
The speedcorps mani comes with the gaskets for head to mani, mani to turbo, and all the bolts needed for that part. if you get a 16g turbo with the 02 dump already on it, the only other gasket to worry about is 02 dump to downpipe, that one can be picked up on an evo site for cheap, or used if you want.
Other then gauges mentioned above(add an EGT tho), you will need 1 or 2 slim fans for the radiator, since the stock ones wont fit with the turbo in... Vacuum lines, T fittings...
I am not entirely sure about the FPR, i am going to run with a 12:1 FMU instead.
Stock Injectors will supposedly hold up to 7 pounds of boost... but i just upgraded those to 03 WRX stock 440cc Injectors.
Here is my list of things i have gathered in the past few months, and comparable prices. Any other questions feel free to ask!

Used Evo 8 16G6 Turbo O2 Housing: $320.00
Used Evo 8 Intercooler with complete piping + intake tube: $95.00
Used Forge Evo 7/8 Adjustable Wastegate Actuator: $100.00
Used 3” Megan Evo VIII Downpipe (Custom Fitted): $85.00
Used RRM Piggyback Turbo V1 : $ 210.00
Used Forge UNOS Boost Controller Pro Kit: $30.00
Used Evo IX Metal BOV: $65.00
Used Walbro 255LHP Fuel Pump: $65.00
Used Vortech 12:1 FMU: $40.00
Brand New Denso/WRX 440cc Injectors: $150.00
Brand New Speedcorps 4g94 Turbo Manifold: $300.00
Brand New Forge 8 Actuator 7-10 psi Spring: $29.00
Brand New Oil Line Kits: $105.00
Boost/Oil Pres/Volt Gauges W/ Pod: $100.00
AEM UEGO Wideband/Autometer EGT/Turbo Timer: $100.00
Brand New (2) 10" Slim Fans: $65.00
Misc. Parts/Supplies: $XX.XX

Total so far: $1,859

I am only waiting on the Speedcorps Mani to actually get here, already been 2 months since i ordered tho and still waiting on a response back about when it will be shipped. And I need to get the downpipe extended once the turbo is on the car. And my vacuum lines and shiza still. But Ya!

Good Luck! If you need any help with the install once it comes up i live in LA, and would be totally down to help out when needed. Just let me know!

Wow this is a great source of information. I am in the R&D phase of my turbo build.

Anyone have any insight for me? Thanks.

Looking forward to seeing how this build unfolds.

O and for the tuning options, AEM EMS, RRM Piggyback, Greddy E-manage, EcuFlash, Apex'i Neo Safc... There Are Alot..

If you plan on running a crazy amount of boost(Over 12 on built internals) the AEM EMS would be a good choice since it is standalone, below that, you can use RRM's turbo piggyback.. which IMO honestly is not the easiest thing to tune with, some ppl have mastered it, i guess it just takes some getting use to. I Live close to RRM so i was planning on calling them up once i get my manifold in and asking them to tune it.

EcuFlash would probably be your easiest option for tuning, buy a tactrix cable(75-90 bucks) and download the software from the link below. Alot of ppl are going with this option, turboed or N/A.

Many ppl have complained about Emanage saying it never got constant AFRs and its difficult to work with so i would stay away from that one too.

Great Page all about EcuFlash

Please make sure you are not messing around with tuning your car if you have no idea what your doing! Read, Study up like crazy. Make sure you have a Wideband before you touch anything... Good Luck!
