Ideas on turbo charging and some 4B11T info
I got some info on the 4B11T bottom end from a magazine called 0-60. I know you can't always believe what you read, but it seemed like a good article. Here it is.
"The 4B11T shares only its engine design architecture with its naturally aspired 4B11 cousin. The 4B11T block is cast specifically for turbo charging in reinforced aluminum. A semi-closed deck and internal latter framing add required strength. Four-bolt mains keep the bottom end solid around the forged steel crankshaft. Stronger forged steel rods connect the crankshaft to gravity-cast 9:1 full-floating pistons. As in the 4G63 oil squirters cool the pistons from below. With bore and stroke at 86mm, the 4B11 is exactly square."
This means that our engines probably won't handle lots of boost with out serious modifications. This also means there probably won't be a factory turbo kit available for our cars. They might put out a low boost kit.
I do think our engines can handle about 100hp over stock with proper tuning.
This could be good news, because our cars weigh about 500lbs less than the evo X. The Evo X has about 11.7 pounds per HP, and if we Can get our cars to 250hp then we would be roughly 12 pounds per HP which is pretty close( I know these Numbers may not be exact). I bought this car to be kind of a budget evo, and I think it is possible.

ok so it basically only has a stronger crankshaft, so Motor Trend was correct on that as well, I guess they knew their weakness with the 4g63 when making big power, thats why some people swap crankshafts with the 4g64

No it has a strengthened block, stronger connecting rods, oil squirter, and lower compression pistons as well as a stronger crankshaft.
I Believe the reason people swap the 4G63 crankshaft for the 4G64s is to stroke the engine.

Ya they use it to stroke the engine but the 4g64 had a stronger crankshaft as well. You really dont need oil squiter anyway so we wouldnt be missing much, of course there is always a debate over if it is actually needed but having swaped heads on a 4g64 with a 4g63 the 3g Eclipse guys cant use the oil squirters and have never seen any problems. And its gonna be a given to use lower compression pistons when you turbocharge(if you want to make some big numbers with high boost along with the rods, it is ashame they didnt put forged rods in this engine since they did in a stock 4g64, cheap  ) So just a stronger block is holding this engine back, ok so we wont be able to run 30psi, lol

9:1 copression would be fine for high boost Dave Buschur uses 9:1 in evo stage 3 blocks. The motor does come with oil squirters and it does help keep temps down. You don't know what the block can handle yet But I'd be willing to bet the the block will handle 30psi just fine. Don't know about the internals tho. Time will tell.

Ok, so what if I were to purchase the RRM turbo kit which doesn't come with forged pistons and forged rods i believe. Could adding boost be as easy as switching the pistons, rods and modifying the ECU for higher psi? Or would fuel air have to be changed as well? Or any other engine component?

Easy as? Yeah, those would be the things to do. Especially the ECU...always get a tune after a turbo install. It still remains to be seen about how much boost our 4B11 can hold, so keeping the tune on the conservative side is a good idea (for now).

jajajaja yea maybe not that easy and cheap. But I wanted to know if that's what i'd have to do in order to increase boost. So would it be safe to say that I could be at the same level as the EVO X in terms of performance if I purchase say the RRM turbo kit along with forged pistons and forged rods, also tune the car.

It is hard to say. You can have strong con rods, crank and piston, but too much boost can still crack the block, or even lift the head off. If you are running too lean it can result in detonation. I think that our engines can handle low boost(under 10psi) safely with the proper tune. I am curious to see what the guys at rrm come up with, they are the experts here.

Ya 9:1 is fine for high boost, I was refering to the 10:1, the oil squiters may help but arent needed, and you are right I dont know what the block can handle I just basically pulled that number out of my ass because it was basically a joke, hence I said lol at the end, maybe I should have put j/k for you

Can the normal 4b11 handle it, unlikely at high PSI within optimized internals, question is can the transmission handle it, a pull is good for lifting in the traditional sense. Lift another person, sure, lifting a heavy piano, lifting an intire car. Something may give. Hopefully if i get my hands on a write off car wreak from my insurance company of a Lancer CVT we will do some cruel tests on our victim (the car that is) I dont want a car that somoene died in, you know i should mention that to them
