Turbo Charging
Will the new Lancer be safe if using a turbo system developing 7 to 14 lbs. of boost? Can the stock internals handle that amount of power? How large of a intercooler would be needed? Sorry, if this has been covered and thanks.

So very true. Gotta get out of debt then pay for a wedding and look for a house before I even begin to think of doing something as crazy as voiding my warranty.
I'll be the guy that buys a turbo kit when his car hits 100,001 miles.

They wont make it for the CVT, they dont love us enough *cry* WHAT DID WE DO WRONG RRM!? WE TRY THE BEST WE CAN TO PLEASE YOU!
I think someone should start bribing RRM to work on CVT before 5spd
CVTs need love too, even if we have to pay more

Because.
1: the 5MT is an archaic, tried and true platform. There isn't a whole lot of "guesswork" as to what the system is capable of. God, they've only been around for ages. The CVT however hasn't. It's a newer system and not many people have even one idea of what the transmission is actually capable of doing/taking.
2: The 5MT is a serviceable transmission, whereas the CVT is not. So if you grenade your diff or, I dunno, snap a shaft in twain, you can pull the tranny apart and repair/replace. The CVT, well if anything goes wrong with it, you're kinda boned.
3: [I have no proof of this but] most likely the engine bay is set up differently between the two transmissions. That's another hurdle to overcome.
That probably about sums it up.

that would all depend on the type of power the base kit puts out, but there has to be some sort of overengineering on the CVT for reliability, but where that line ends is is yet to be known.
I was told by Mitsu that is should hold 285HP but he also said that it doesnt use a torque converter but it does, so who knows
I think the question is how much torque can it hold? Even if it can handle the power...how long can it handle it for?
