Help with tail lights

Hey all. So i recently purchased an evo 8 from a guy on these forums. When i got it everything worked PERFECT. Now here is my dilemma. When my lights are off, all the lights work perfectly fine. Except on the left side rear turn signal is sort of dim. Now, when my lights are on, my left turn signal acts as the brake light and the brake lights act as the turn signals. So my lights are on and i step on the brake, the signal light lights up bright. When i turn signal left, the brake lights blink. When im turn signaling left while braking at the same time, it blinks very fast like a bulb is out. I have the jdm tails. I figured it would have to be wired incorrectly, but the previous owner says no cutting or splicing just a direct fit. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

I would check the wiring leading up to the light first to make sure that there isn't an obvious short/cut in the wires...Rodents sometime like to snack on wiring...

damnit, we do have little mice running around in our garage!! I'm not very good at electrical stuff. But if a wire has been chewed on and disconnected, wouldn't it just kill the light? I mean all of the lights work fine, just dont work correctly what they are meant for.
