weird interior light problems.

I installed a new head unit on my evo ix. I used a adaptor kit from wal-mart, I know I know. After installing the head unit the clock is alot brighter and the hvac lights don't go on. To boot the clock doesn't dim at all, but the guages do.

I've tried all fuses and took apart the circuit board, and even took out those little blue bulbs. The bulbs look good still so i'm out of ideas....

Do you guys have any ideas?

My guess would be that the adapter kit you bought isn't wired correctly. Either that or you pinched a wire and have two wires touching which is causing there to be 12v where theres only supposed to be 9, or vice versa. First I would check all the wiring and look for shorts/pinched wires. Next I would reinstall the old unit and see what it does. Pm me with what you find if ya want.
