Drives: 06 Evo IX

Clutch question, new clutch needed.

The OEM clutch on my 06 Evolution IX needs to be replaced and I was wondering if anyone knows what would be the best brand clutch to replace it with. Not really looking into performance wise, more of the life span, and for street driving since the car is daily driven. Any help with this would be appreciated.

What do you do with the car other than DD on the street? Any mods? What price range are you looking to keep in?

No other mods, and I'm hoping in the price range of $400-$650.

if your not modding the car the exedy and street disk is fine.

a hair more would be the act HD and the sprung street disk.

xRoguex,

You fail to mention why you think the recommendation of several well-respected Evo-specific shops (some of whom have done an avg. of 1 Evo clutch/day every single work day for the last 4 years straight) is not a worthwhile recommendation.

The SD disc is fairly new, so is not shown on ACT's site. The SD disc is a full face unsprung solid hub organic disc (unsprung, so no springs to break; full face organic disc, so no problem if you get stuck in stop-go traffic on an uphill).

Only downsides to the SD disc are some driveline gear backlash noise (same as for any solid hub disc), and the potential for reduced hub spline life because of the lack of springs (same as for any unsprung disc).

But overall, IMHO, the ACT XT SD is the best recommendation for a reasonably priced clutch for a spiritedly-driven daily driver that can also be used for auto-x, rally-x, track days etc.

If you can read - you would know the car is stock.

A stupidly heavy 3200 pound pressure plate and a solid hub is beyond a waste.

Thanks for reading tho.

For a stock DD car... get the exedy stage 1, or the act HD with SPRUNG full disk.

Drives: Evo8.8, and a DD

I have the ACT HD, holding over 400bhp. I think it depends on what you WANT to do with the car though. If you are seriously planning on modding, you may just wanna go for an Exedy Twin and not worry about it again.
