whichone would u buy and why?

is datalogging possible with xd16?

both. you can't data log with the XD-16 by it self... its just a gauge. you'll need to have your laptop with you at all time "IF" you want to datalog. The LM-1 unit gives you 44 minutes of logging capablity but your going to need something to interact with your inputs, like the LMA-2.
