basically, it's a post apoclyptic world (sp) that is very open ended just like oblivion is. I'm not sure but i think the main story has you looking for your father or something but the game is supposed to be massive and really involved. I preordered it months ago and picking it up after work tomorrow :-D

first person rpg....some of the combat elements look cool, like you can do a regular aim and shoot a bad guy, or you can go into tis mode where time slows down briefly and you can aim at certain areas like the head, arms, legs , neck etc...i'm guessing some bad guys have certain weaknesses that you can exploiti'm picking it up today after work and let u know how it is GDS

I don't think it's a renter... considering how big the game is.
I spent an hour and a half in the vault just poking around...
I spent over an hour in a school today, finding weird crap...
I also went way out of my way to see buildings and what not on my way to another town, it's a cool, in depth game.

I played 1, 2 & 3.
1 & 2 were most likely my favorite turned based games that I have every played on PC. Tons of things to do in both of them and I had fun following the stories.
Now Fallout 3 is WAY better then the first 2 games. You can ether play the game in first or 3rd person. You can make your own weapons if you find the blueprint for them and have the items needed to put it together.
Leveling yourself is just like in the other games. Each level you gain you get to add points to your base stats and then you get to pick a perk. There are countless ways to level yourself. You can ether go for all the power stats and be a walking tank or you can turn yourself into a ninja and pick pocket people right in front of them without them knowing
Exploring the world at first is really fun as well. I kept finding myself heading out to some small town to deliver a message but I kept wondering off to some random building and seeing what I can find inside. But don't just run into any building that you find. I ran into the front door of one building and a body with spikes coming out of it can down on a chain and hit me breaking on of my arms. LOL
Also, I was running around and found a caravan under attack by some raiders. By the time I got there the one guy still alive was the merc that was following the caravan. So I help out and kill everything. I went to check the dead people to see what I can get. Found a key that unlocked the packs on the two headed cow and got a **** ton of free gear to sell and money.
I played all day the other day (noon to 11pm) and I'm not even 10% done with the game and thats saying something since I fly through games.
I give this a 10/10 hands down.

Donkey punching is more safe and effective when you use a swift but controlled open-handed karate chop to the very base of the skull, near its insertion on the neck.
