I am not so worried about the parts themselves, but the lack of techs to service them. Not much US experience with AYC/ACD. Plus the cost of maintenance for those items is $$$$....

If it breaks...... you are fuct. Its not ideal for dragging.....

but for day to day / month to month maintenance.... the only thing thats different from your driveline maintenance is the need to change the ayc clutch oil (not the hydraulic atf) every 20k. THats standard Mitsu ATF III (1L).

Don't follow the UK folk..... they are clueless when it comes to AYC/ACD maintenance. The fact that they have some of the highest diff and pressure switch failures in the world proves this.

I wrote an article on it in the how to section...... a while back.

Fluid change for Evo VIII Japanese Specs

Easy stuff, i do it all myself for pennies !

But I get your point though Chris, the US dealers would probably ASS RAPE their customers like they do in the UK with their "oh you have to change your AYC oil & bleed the system every 4,500kms" bull****. The casual owner would get screwed over....

I don't think it's worth the depreciation hit, either. Personally, once I get the front LSD installed, I will be stoked. No need for other gizmos. When the UK mag "evo" tested the US-spec Evo, they said it was more fun than the fully-automated JDM version...

If they're bringing in the FQ-330 MR w/o it being molested that would make a good upgrade.

More power and lighter.

Then again the USDM already overpowers & kills 99% of all cars on the road. Only autos that could possibly match it are either 2-3 times more expensive or the STi.

I want em lights. The stock ones on the VIII are too altezza-like that it makes it (imho) look tacky/ricey.

I agree with evoWALO, if this thing comes unmolested then it'll be amazing. On the flip side, minus the 6MT/AYC/ACD it's just the same car...
3.3 lbs. lighter per wheel

RTS EVO VIII...I can't believe you think the gsr feels anywher near the type R, theyre boht integras, but thats almost like saying the wrx feels like the STi, the Type R STILL beats the junk out of any FF car out even till this day, u can get a gsr with full TEIN SS coil setups and it would still lose to a stock type R

Drives: An MR when it comes to the US

This is a classic case of " the fox can't get the grapes so he says they're sour" Why is there so much hate against the MR? Especially from current Evo owners. I know you guys are just upset that a better Evo is coming. And the current Evo owners are doing all the ranting

It's always been in all males to be better than the next guy, too own what the next guy can't have too "show-off" and rub it in his face.

All the "electronic gizmos" as some of you claim has proven to be very efficient in the Evo. Just ask Tommi, he'll tell you.

Also I don't think Mitsu would be stupid enough to bring the MR without ACD/SAYC because that would be dumb. They need to excite the consumers with a better version of the current Evo.

And alot of you guys try to justify your purchase by saying " I will keep my Evo and mod it to be better than a MR" How stupid can you guys be? How are you going to compare a modded car to a stock car? Doesn't make any sense. Well how about when someone buys an MR and modds it then what.

Now it's true that for the most part that 90% of Evo owners are not going to leave their cars stock because we don't care about stock. But guess what........ Mitsu doesn't care about us modding the car either. They know that it is going to happen. They did their part by improving on the stock.

There I am done ranting

I think those who bought an Evo within the last 3 months will feel the sting if came out with the MR. I'd feel bad too if I lived in the US. Seriously though I like how the MR looks and it looks mean and evil compared to a stock 8.

This is pretty much comparable to how Apple consumers feel when they bought a Macintosh/iPod a few weeks earlier before an new product announcement/renewal.

It all boils down to maximizing and being happy with what you have right now. If you really want an MR buy or trade your current ride for one. It's that simple. If one does show up in my neck of the it would take about half a year for it to show up and be twice or thrice the USDM MSRP cause it's an MR.

If a full spec MR does come over I think the one most off would be the people still waiting for their EVO VII from EI
