Well, fact or fiction, I do welcome cars that do not sacrifice performance while doing less damage to our o-zone layer.

But when the same publication favors a Lancer in an article, the same haters reply with "finally, a fair review!" Really?! No hypocrisy there, oh no.

I think the EVO gets the lowest gas mileage of any Mitsu. So, why not start with the vehicle where you have the most to gain? That's exactly what GM did with SUVs.

And, once Mitsu found out how much a hybrid cost to produce, it had to be a top of the line car.

Unfortunately, it may be like the Volt - great idea, sweet car and all, but will the people who actually want or need to save money on fuel be able to spend $40,000 to buy one? What our country needs is a car about 4/5 to 7/8 the size of the Volt that can be bought for $20,000.

Drives: X

My idea of a nice hybrid system adapted to the evo would be something like this:

Retain S-AWC (ACD+AYC), but with a twist:
* Main turbo 4banger gas engine driving front wheels only to save weight and moving parts, target 200HP/180tq so engine/components can be made much lighter/smaller (1.6L engine, smaller turbo, etc. for better fuel economy)
* One electric motor each per rear wheel with direct-drive technology similar to the all-electric Evo concept. (75HP/90tq target per wheel)
S-AWC would be modified of course, but will have similar logic as the latest Evo, controlling both gas & electic drive systems (each wheel) at the same time to maintain the same cornering/handling performance as the X.

Total max HP = 350
Total max Torque = 360

What a hot Hyrbrid Evo that would be LOL

Target MPG = 30 city/35 highway (much higher with Plugin variant)
