GM is trying to sell off the entire brand, but they will no longer put R&D into building the cars which are all based on other GM products.
Oh, ok. I have a gut feeling that GM is going to do away with Saturn, just wanted to see the cup as half full for the employees' sakes.

Nope, closest Saturn I think is more than two hours away.

Maybe, mitsubishi can team up with OPEL (GM European Division), and bring in cars to replace Saturn..

I hope Mitsu just concentrates on Mitsu. IF they are planning on grabbing up Saturn dealers to remodel them into Mitsu show rooms then fine, but giving unique (or even rebadged) product to Saturn dealers would be a slap in the face of their existing dealer network IMO. Those guys are struggling, ~9 new cars a month on average sucks, and they need new product yesterday.

I agree with you! mitsu needs to do something!(and I don't think buying saturn is a good idea for an already struggling company) I have worked at a mitsu/hyundai dealer sine 92 and we haven't sold over 10 in a couple years! we sell over 200 hyundais a month though!!! makes me sad to see that on my reports every month

I also have a few good looking Mitsu Dealers by my house. What they need to do is team up with Chrysler and Dodge again. Put the 4g63 back into the Galant and Eclipse. And put the DOHC back into the Mirage and Lancer.
They need to go back to the old days!

I like your thinking except what I put in bold. There's nothing Mitsu needs from Chyrsler, and it wouldn't take help from them to put turbo DOHC power back into Galants Eclipses, Colt/Mirage/Lancers either. Mitsu could make cooler cars on their own, without Chrysler's help.

Where I live Lancers are becoming as generic as the Corolla so they might not be doing as good in the US but in other countries they are doing OK, also the Outlander and the L200 Sportero sell as good as the Lancers.

So out of these three still on Mitsus site, which one is left?

Schaller, County Line, and Michael.

I would be highly discuraged if I went to buy an Evo and it had the Saturn name on it. Even though it was still the same car.

I highly doubt that they will be taking over the name. Like most have said im sure its mostly to get some prime dealership spots. Althought the Mitsubishi dealership over here looks pretty good. The parking area needs a bit of work but the building is pretty nice and well taken care off.

With Penske buying Saturn, I think this whole thread is a moot point.
