Not good news on mitsu future

mitsubishi sucks. the only thing they make worth driving is the EVO, and now the new Lancer. Everything else could disappear and no one would notice, or care. their service is horrendous, and so is the assistance at the dealerships. combine that with horrible, overpriced cars, and you get FAILURE.

The quality of the cars seem pretty solid, but as everyone has said, the service always sucks. I don't even take my car to the dealership for maintenance considering their warranty is crap anyway and they usually are willing to argue with customers about their complaints and pretty much do whatever it takes to deny having to do any warranty work.

I don't know if it's because they are just really ****ing lazy or if it's because they have some sort of quota on warranty work... I'm guessing it's because they are just really ****ing lazy.

In my experience, it's always seemed to be pretty hard to obtain OEM mitsu parts without going to the dealer and spending money on a 300% marked up part.

These are all reasons why Mitsubishi is failing so miserably.... but I still like my car!

All in all, not bad for a car thats had cams and a bigger turbo for about 50k

Thats to bad that you guys have all had bad experiences with Mitsubishi dealers. The dealer by us deals in a few different cars such as Ford/Mercury and Mitsubishi. Somehow I bent one of the pulleys in my 05 evo when it was under warranty. They fixed it with no questions asked, washed and waxed the car and had it back to me in 4 days. I've never had better service with a semi-major repair.

Not all of us. I have had great experience with mine. Its just that its par for the course to complain around here, and most times people who get treated right or get away with something they shouldn't have, don't say anything.

Mitsubishi is still moving and doing a hell of allot better than any domestic company right now. Dealers closing is because they sucked. I thing there should be more Mitsu dealers that close because they suck. I know because I work for Mitsubishi. I worked at a dealer and it was the red headed step child of a Ford dealer. I got the hell out of there after I saw the writing on the wall. I went to a solid Mitsubishi Dealer. The Owner is young, energetic, on site and is focused on Mitsubishi only. He loves Evos and races them. He's got a awsome track car and races SCCA. Spanks Vettes all the time.

Fact: Mitsubishi Signed a Contract with the Normal, Il Plant that will guarantee production at the plant until 2012.

Fact: They will be bringing over a small car from Japan for Production at that plant
Rumor is that it may be the Colt or the Lancer.

Fact: Galant, Eclipse, and Endeavor Platform may be going bye bye due to it not being a world platform (i.e. not available world wide)

Fact: The Evo X 2010 Edition is due in the US late summer, The Lancer Sportback is due mid-summer. Why would they even both bringing them over if they are going out of buisness?

Fact: The Raider/Dodge Dakota is done this year, thank god! Maybe they will bring over one of the trucks from Japan.

That is what I have heard from my Rep at Mitsubishi. I think things will get better it is just going to take some time.

There are very few dedicated Mitsu dealers, most are just a freebie franchise tossed in with whatever else a dealer group decides to sell. Most metro areas only need one, so a few dealers going away is probably a good thing.

Mitsu says they are going to concentrate on small cars only, so I'm not suprised that all the Project America cars are going away. Hopefully they will keep the Eclipse and Galant and just redo them on stretched LAncer platforms next time around. More then likely brining the Colt and/or i over is the next thing they're going to do.

I really like the Mitsubishi image and the way they built it up on the Evo. I currently own two Mitsus, the X and an 06 Endeavour. I've driven and owned a lot of cars from other brands before, but so far, Mitsu has not disappointed me with these two automobiles. The pricing is competitive, but it really shines if you take advantage of the heavy discounts and special financing rates they constantly offer to the public. These cars are truly bang-for-your-buck, far from perfect, but most of the time better than the competition. I'm no fanboi, but if I'm to choose between a lancer, a corolla, or a civic... you already know what I'm going to pick. It's not because of the brand, but it's more about the styling, the specs, & the pricing (including current offers).

They are on the right track concentrating on the small car segment, since it appears to be the most viable and sellable platform in today's murky economy. They have a small enough presence in the U.S. (concentrating more in Asia and Europe where have solid popularity), so they should be able to weather this financial meltdown better than some of the other auto manufacturers.

Here in the Middle East, the Lancer and Pajero do quite well. EVOs are still a bit of an exclusive market, and parts for the EVO are never in stock and the service departments don't know how to perform any maintenance and are likely to misdiagnose a problem than fix a problem.

If it weren't for forums like EvoM, networks of friends overseas, vendors who are familiar with us and some of us who actually know how to wrench on these cars, we'd all would have tossed petrol on them and torched them long ago. I guess it is love for the car and for being independent and not part of the crowd

I'm going to hang on to my EVO forever. I treat it decent, and it was built to take a beating. The combination means I'll be driving it for a looong time. I read that the Pajero dominated the Dakar Rally for 8 straight years. Interestingly, it was sold in the USA as the Montero, but that model was pulled from the US market, either in 2007 or 2008, I don't remember which.
