Sportback being inveiled at Geneva
Here is the link below with more information on this euro model. Maybe if we get excited enough about it, Mistu would consider bringing it to the US in the future.
On another note, its a long shot, but I may be going to the Geneva Auto Show and seeing this in person.

If they'd bring that over to the US with the rumored 2.2 L turbo diesel, I'd trade my car in for one in a heartbeat.

I think this looks better than the sedan version of the new Lancer and thats saying a lot cuz I think the new Lancer currently is the best looking compact available in US.

I think that once it's officially unveiled and confirmed to be Euro-only, we should put together a petition. One of the "insiders" on these forums has already indicated that Mitsubishi will bring this to the States if they perceive enough consumer interest.

Mitsu does watch this, so if a tremendous interest of buyers is apparent, it may have an impact.
Dont hold your breath for the 2.2 turbo diesel in the US. Despite the fact that I love the idea as do many others, it looks like it may not happen through no fault of mitsu

Now, this would be the perfect car for me. I'm currently selling my IX because it doesn't offer the right amount of utility and daily driveability that I need in a car because of my job. This sportback would give me everything I want. Utility. Performance. Good looks. AWD. Hopefully it makes its way here at some point in the future. If Mitsu would definitively announce this car was coming, I would not sell my IX and wait. But, I won't be lucky enough for them to announce that any time soon. Oh well...

CharlesJ, just a suggestion. Maybe make this a poll to gauge interest? Not sure what the questions would be, but would give the Mitsu corporate guys a quick glance at the popularity of a model such as this. Just a suggestion.

I was thinking about this after its unveiling march 3rd. We want to see the real thing before we say we love it. Its going to be slightly different than the concept. It will be especially interesting if I am there to get the inside scoop.

Very true on waiting for the real thing to be shown at Geneva.
So, you've got a connection to get you to the show? I've been once and you'll have a great time

Seeing the sedan, if it's anything close I'm sure I'll love it. The concept is hot, and actually looks like a production vehicle imo.

I may be covering the show for the entire week for some major sources. Still a long shot, but I am a backup for it. I have been to geneva once before, but it was 22 years ago and I was pretty young. Obviously never been to the show, so it would certainly be something I would like to do

That's really unfortunate. I'd love a Lancer diesel, but it looks I'll have to look towards Honda or VW instead.
