2.4l Lancer GTS w/ Ralliart turbo kit options
howdy,
i was talking to the sales manager at Mitsu dealer and aside for the new X, Lancer RA, it appears that Mitsu will further offer another interesting option.
As in the title, he told me that they will offer the current naturally aspirated Lancer GTS with the 2.4 liter Mivec engine, the frosting will be the options: appearently, we will be able to purchase a very reliable Ralliart turbo kit to put on car and some other goodies.
This doesnt feel like total fiction, Has anyone else heard that?

theres a HUGE rumor about it in the 08 lancer forced induction sub forum. read up. it will answer your question somewhat. theres a chance it will be a factory option. not something that you can install/installed by dealers. but theres also a chance it is total fiction (which im sure it is) and some one jus started a rumor

Seconded, and really, given that it wouldn't be much cheaper than the RA after the turbo option, and doesn't have all-wheel or the TC-SST that some of us (me...) want, why would anyone buy it?

HAHAHAHA.... All I can say is never, I mean never, listen to a local mitsu dealer. I guarantee you, if you frequent these forums you know substantially more about this types of topics than any local mitsu dealer. I had my dealer offer me a "performance turbo package" for my 05 ralliart. They said it would be out in two months, this was August of 04. Have you seen a turbo offered from mitsu for 04-06 ralliarts? The answer is no. This same rumour has been spread surrounding the new lancers, has any official info been released regarding this? Nope. Honestly, dealerships know less about their cars than you do.

I don't believe it. Many dealers, before the Ralliart was officially announced, believed that it was just going to be a turbo'd GTS. I bet those rumors just haven't died yet.

I'm just glad it's NOT simply a turbo GTS -- I'd probably still be thinking about a Legacy GT (not that the LGT would be bad, but I think the RA should be hot).

The Legacy GT is a really nice car, though. Though somewhat uncomparable to the Ralliart, since the Ralliart is still considered a "compact" by US standards, and the Legacy is a mid-size.

mitsubishi is not in the habit of offering factory performance parts...especially since most of the dealers will threaten your warranty with intakes or exhaust...

i know all about dealers blowing smoke out of their ars but this car is not really an impossibility, in fact, to me it makes sense.
Lets speculate that this option will not necessarily be only available on the fully loaded GTS which is priced out at over 20K:
so if you take a base lancer model with 2.4 liter engine and no fluff, you got a 14K car, lets make the turbo kit be 5-6K, after its all said and done, you end up with a 20K turbo-charged, 2wd, lancer "ralliart-tcharged"
Isnt that what some people here do, that is turbo charge their 2wd lancers?

I don't know what MMNA problem is but Mitsubishi has been offering factory performance enhancing options in Asia and Europe for ages, recently even the new Outlander has a Rallitronic upgrade available in Europe that enhances performance by up to 15-20%. Since Mitsubishi has these parts already developed, what really stops them from offering them in US. Nissan offers Nismo products in US, why can't Mitsu offer Ralliart products I think quite a few people would buy these products considering that none of those upgrades would void the warranty since those are tested and authorized Mitsu parts.

I doubt a factory turbocharged option is in hand, especially for mitu. Only one manufacturer I've seen that has original "after-market" forced induction, and thats trd with its superchargers.
