EVO X turbo Info
All:
I thought I'd start this thread and hopefully over time we'll get more information about this turbo. Anyone have any real specs on it? Flow charts? Maximum boost pressure? Comparison to the EVO VIII/EVO IX turbos?

Is it really a 15G turbo? I heard that it's 15 and the markings on the turbo did say 15.

No. It's not a Mitsu turbo. It's a Warner IHI turbo. Same make on the Mazdas.

"We looked, and there's plenty of space in there for larger turbos once the stock TD05H-152G6-12T is maxed out."

It doesnt say who makes it, but it confirms the post above regarding the model/part number for the turbo.

Warner and IHI are 2 different companies. Borg Warner bought out KKK, and is based in Europe. IHI is based in Japan.

You are partially correct - they did merge..
"IHI Turbo America (ITA) was founded in 1980 as Warner-Ishi Corporation a 50/50 joint venture between IHI and Borg Warner Automotive and a licensee of IHI turbocharger technology."

Hmm.. this is interesting.
I'll change the title of the thread then. A 15G is certainly not going to put out more power than the stock 16G-type turbo that came with the last generation.

If you knew what the 15g stood for, you would know that it very well may flow more and be smaller diameter. The exhaust side is bigger.

Flowing more on the exhasut is only half of the equation. There's no use in having a larger hot side and a smaller compressor wheel. Airflow will still be restricted.

If you read what I said you would see I was talking about the compressor side. Just because the compressor wheel is slightly smaller diameter, that doesn't mean it will flow less. We are only talking about a 5% diameter change, but if the wheel is wider or has better blades, it may still flow more. Only time will tell, but this should be another great stock turbo. The Japanese literature said it flowed 14% more than the IX turbo did.

what does it matter who makes it? a TD05 blah blah blah turbo is different if IHI or Mitsu makes it?
i think the X will run a slightly larger turbo, but less boost than the 8's and 9's
