I made some comments on the video HERE.

I am disappointed in the low HP number, but really, Torque is where the fun is at. And 311 stock is very good.

I also noted that I belive 276hp is the magic number that the japanese auto manufacturers agreed upon. So it may very well be underrated. Frankly, I'm much more interested in the torque figure and I'm rather happy about it.

Why do you think VWs are liked so much? The low-end torque to the wheels makes them feel really sporty. Trust me, low-end grunt + AWD = perma-

Don't care much for high speed. Low end torque is where you can have fun! if those numbers are WHP, then that is a lot of torque!

Even if it's at the flywheel, it's a step up from the IX.

But we dont' know what the X weighs, and there's no hint in the video.

I'm still betting on 3350 base for the regular trimline. If that red is indeed a stripped-down X, I could see it at the MR's 3285.

These days are interesting times!

I agree, I do like the torque number on a stock evo.

The HP number is week as hell!!

We can only hope the final version will be over 300 hp.

Rather than underrated, its probably detuned. Its making great peak torque values, and the HP curve seems to have a very flat top suggesting that they are simply pulling back boost to keep the HP within the 276 HP value agreed upon for JDM vehicles. 300+ HP could be as easy as a tune.

The question that wont be answered for a while is whether the new motor can handle big HP, e.g. 400 whp+.

the "official" hp number is obviously underrated. besides the fact that every japanese sports car being rated at 276 hp is fishy, the 4b11 has less stroke than the 4g63 yet makes 311 ft lbs vs 289 for the 4g63. whatever is making more tq will also make more hp especially given that displacement is basically the same and that the stroke is actually DECREASED and the redline is 7000.

this video makes the engine look very promising.
