What needs to be better about it? The OEM Evo 8 clutch can handle around 300 - 350 HP at the crank.
Oh, and next time, do a friggin' search before asking something like this.

so your saying the stock clutch being able to handle only 300 fhp is fine, all i got to say is if you do anything to the car, the clutch is gone by 10k-15k. which sucks IMO. theres a stock evo over here by me that has 9k on it and no clutch now, thats mostly due to the owners son being a jack ass in it all the time.

I did help. I let the guy know that there was no need for improvment, and I also let him know that using the search button is a good practice to do on this forum.

Because I can. If my intolerance for people who don't follow Rule #2 offends you, then join a support group.

The clutch should always be the fuse. It should be the first part to break in the driveline. I'd much rather destroy a clutch than a transmission. And since when has the logic of heavily modifying a car and leaving the stock clutch in it been the way to do things?

What search should he have done?
The most obvious search was "2005 clutch" and this did not bring up any threads containing solid information about clutch differences in the '05 Evos.
Maybe there is a magic set of keywords that would have brought up information, but the fact is that vBulletin search is only so good. Cut people some slack if they don't guess the magic combination of words that's going to bring up the info they need.

Yeah, magic.
Try something like "Mitsubishi Racing"
Or just click on this if you are too exhausted from your last search effort. There's quite a bit of info that has accumulated over the last 3 years or so, and to make it easy to find, it is stickied in the Evo General forum.
How convenient, huh?

Also reading other info about the 2005 models will clue you in on the fact that they kept the clutch the same.
They added a 5,000 RPM rev limiter to the 2005's to keep everyone from drag racing and burning up the clutch (and then blaming Mitsu for making a "weak" clutch because they abused it and it failed). You can read about that here.
