It seemed like an electronic issue, so I tried re-starting the car and the problem went away. I drove for an hour and everything seemed normal again.

OBDII scanner pulled the following codes: U0100, P1870, P1871.

I did some research and looks like a bad MAF could cause this weird problem on the SST. But in my case, re-starting the car solved the issue. Is this an early indication of a bad MAF? What is really going on?

Just got a one year old Evo X SST GSR with barely 6k mileage.:)
I am experiencing a strange tapping noise from the engine bay.
Sound occurs when transmission is in P and N position.
However when I engage to D or R with foot brake no noise heard.
My workshop said they received feedback that some SST do have this noise issue. As long as my car drives fine then its ok. I can change the SST transmission oil for peace of mind.

Isn't it too early to change for a car with barely 6k mileage? :crap:
Has anyone experienced this before? Care to share or enlighten me what are the possible reasons?

The code that displays this "Communication error with ecm/pcm" is pending according to my tuner when he checked up on my ECU .My tuner says he has never seen this and could be a big issue.

I just bought an Evo X MR with 250 miles about 3 months ago. I got it tuned at 1000 miles. Now it has approximately 1700 miles now. And i had 3 problems within the last 5 weeks after the tune coincidentally, which most of them are fixed.

I've had problems the last few weeks:

(1) After activating fast key, car would Completely just die when i go into the car.
Battery was replaced because it was bad. Needless to say, the car still died once afterward. I think it was because of my fast key in the same pocket as my cellphone and a metal key chain attached to that. I think the dying problem has been fixed hopefully cause it has not happened again.

(2) Idle was stuttering upon starting the car and then it dies. Had to restart car. Id have to put a little gas or change gears. Tuner fixed that, forgot to disable limp mode. Has not happened again.

(3) Tuner says a very rare code popped up or is pending. He forgot to write it down but it said "Failure to communication with ECM/PCM" Note when i drive around sometimes. Randomly at times, all the icons just appear and the navi starts to reset. Its like the car is rebooting itself or something while DRIVING.

I'm thinking this is serious and i just filed a case. Cause i have a one year warranty.

Any suggestions on what this code is? Some feedback and the correct way to approach the Mitsu dealership on fixing this problem.

Hey guys,

If you are in manual mode (auto, sport, or s-sport), let's say you are in 2nd gear and you go WOT, will the car automatically upshift when you hit revline, or is it possible to bounce off the rev limiter?

If not, does anybody offer tuning yet which will prevent the upshift and allow you to hold the gear?

Also, does the SST have a kick down button similar to a regular automatic?
