They are challenging yet extremely rewarding! This car was in mint condition 9,000 miles! It just needed some polishing and jeweling. As a last step we used Menzerna topped with Swissvax Divine

A thorough interior cleaning to finish it off.

Here is what was done on the car:

Exterior

- Wheels were prepped with P21S Wheel Gel and cleaned up with various brushes
- Tires were spritzed down with P21S Total Autowash and washed down
- Wheel wells were spritzed down with P21S Total Autowash and washed down
- Wash down and rinsed
- Door jambs were cleaned up
- Claying
- Dried
- Paint inspected and measured
- Wheels protected with Swissvax Autobahn
- Tires dressed with Swissvax Pneu
- 2 Step Paint correction
- Inspection with Fenix, 3m Sun Gun, Infratech, and natural sunlight
- Paint sealed with Menzerna
- Swissvax Divine
- Rubber and Plastics Treated
- Exterior windows and mirrors cleaned and sealed
- Exhaust tips cleaned

Interior Detail

- All interior surfaces cleaned and prepared, including glass, and all
vinyl/plastic surfaces.
- Carpets and upholstery vacuumed.
-Leather surfaces are carefully cleaned, prepared and fed using the Leather Master

I've been getting quotes from full-service repair shops to re-paint the entire side of the car for $700-$1000 (to prevent any colormatch issues), but they'll need the car for 4-5 days.

Tried repairing it myself with the paint-pen, and Dr. colorChip. Still not happy with the results. And I was thinking about trying spray Cans from PaintScratch ($80 in supplies)

I found a mobile paint service called Gorilla Detail -- Has anybody tried them? ($180)

Excuse the lack of pictures I was on a bit of a schedule and Mike had to get to a meeting so I tried to get as much done in short time.

so the story with this car is its a brand new 09 G37 that got hit while being park. Owner took it to get buffed out, the hack that tried to fix the scratches threw compound on it and hit it with a rotary. made a mess and the haziness was bothering the customers eyes. He happened to find me on the here and scheduled an appointment to fix what the hack had ruined. On the phone we discussed the worry of it having the infamous self healing clearcoat. So i pulled out all my polishes and pads and got ready for the worst.

So for the next 5 pictures below we see swirling, hazing and holograms caused by improper compounding with a rotary and wool pad.





Picture below is after hitting the area with 85rd on a white pad. Didnt do anything to the swirls, fixed the hazing and holograms just a little. So I tried again...

Tried out my favorite combo, LC Orange pad with Menz SIP, better results but swirls not completely gone...



Second hit on the area and it looked alot better. except for the little hazing SIP left, so after hitting the problem spot with SIP twice (tried power gloss on yellow pad and the deeper scratches) then hitting the rest of the bumper with SIP/orange pad, i removed the hazing with PO85rd on a white pad. and these are the results...

Those are not holograms in the picture below. They are the reflection of the reflection of the sun on the cars paint, shining off onto the fence. (I think that made sense)

The customer wanted it fixed and didn't really mind how long it took or how much. Again we couldn't believe how bad it was, until we saw it in the direct sunlight.

We did the normal prep work, wash, wheels, clay, etc. For the paint correction we enrolled Menzerna Power Gloss Compound with an Uber Yellow Pad, followed by Menzerna Super Intensive Polish with an Uber Green Pad, finally we finished with my favorite Menzerna PO85RD. As a last step we gave it a coat of Swissvax Divine. Enjoy!

This 2003 Lancer Evo started off with the normal signs that come with years of improper washing techniques: swirls swirls and more swirls. So many swirls that the metallic flake in the paint was nearly completely unnoticeable. The black paint looked fabed and grey from light being reflected in a million different directions from the shallow scratches (as shallow scratches are what swirl marks actually are). The vehicle also suffered from some Random Isolated Deep Scratches(RIDS), some which were not 100% removed from machine polishing. Other than the abused looking paint, the vehicle was actually in very good shape, with very few deep blemishes / dents, and few signs of hardwater/bird bomb etching.

Chemical Guy’s Sticky Wheel Cleaner applied to the rims and calipers, P21S TAW used on the tires, lower panels, and inside the gas door, to loosen grime.











Foamed down the vehicle with Citrus Wash and Clear to loosen any other grime, allowed to dwell, then washed with CG Maxi Suds II using the two bucket method.











Clayed with Meguiar’s aggressive clay using DP Four-in-One and ONR as clay lube. This took quite awhile as the car is a daily driver that has been outside without protection for quite some time.







Re-rinsed to get clay lube residue off, then taped carefully to insure protection of areas/items that weren’t to be polished.





Test panel time!

From our test panel, we saw how well Meguiar’s M205 + a Meguiar's Yellow Solo 2 pad removed defects, and that it finished down haze-free, but it didn’t finish down hologram-free. Not good enough.









The 2-step correction combo we ended up with was Meg’s M205 on a Meguiar's Yellow Solo 2 pad followed by 3M Ultrafina on the Ultrafina pad. This resulted in amazing clarity and depth, got rid of 95%+ of defects on the soft Mitsu paint, and brought the car back to life. The same combo was used on the taillights as well with great results.







In this pic we see the clarity achieved already. The near side is done, while Marc works on the far side of the hood.
