Some of you may remember the "Average Joe" build from this link,,,
http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-dyn...e-joe-evo.html

Since the objective isn't to build a dyno queen, we decided to go 'shake the car down' at e-town this weekend.

1 Gear pulls on a dyno are great for bragging rights, however getting the car up the 1320 requires more effort. We wanted to take the time to test the suspension settings, make sure the car was aligned properly, and analyze boost, afr, and misc data through all 4 gears.

Although pleased to see 109-110mph 1/8th traps, 10.6/10.8 @133-34 didn't add up. These 1/8th mile traps should translate into the mid 140's up top. The logs showed some quirky things happening with the fuel system going into 4th. After some time on the lift today, I think we found our 'Bug'.

The suspension worked nice and smooth. Easy driving the car out of the hole for 1.6's, we were pleased to see the suspension squat smoothly and not hop around or go sideways too crazy. Tires worked very well and kept suspension geometry where we wanted it.

All in all, a pretty good day. Fun times, met some new people, and spent the day with "Average Joe" talking smack with some of the areas 'gamblers'.

I put a short slideshow with vids together on youtube.. (Sorry for the crappy cellphone vids)

Ok, so yesterday was a good day. I took first place for Fastest Car at the NC/SC Shootout. And I also got a new personal best and a little Record under the belt. The car has a lot more left in it. My 60 ft wasn't that great and I actually hit boost cut right around the 1/8th mile.

I honestly think the car will go 8.4's or 8.3's as it sits. Just tweaking the tune and suspension.

This is gonna seem cheesy, but I have to do a thank you list for all the people that have stuck with me through all the troubles and kept pushing me to do better.

Doug @ Topspeed - he's the first person to get my car running back in '05 when I built my motor and had just installed AEM in my driveway in (ghetto)Riverdale. This man drove to my house from (not Ghetto)Alpharetta, not knowing who I was, and got my **** running. It's been a great partnership ever since. BIG Thanks for all you've done for me and for making the trek out to NC with me yesterday (on your daughter's bday no less) and sprinkling the Topspeed fairy dust on the tune to make it happen.

Colleen - for putting up with me and staying with me. And being a very supportive girlfriend. You are too good to me and I couldn't do it without you.

Kevin Kiggly - For all the advise and random phone calls you would take from me when I couldn't figure something out. You've been a great help!

Dustin S (Creekside Boys): Dude, you've been one of the biggest supporters for me and a truly great friend. Thank you so much for helping me with ideas, building ****, borrowing **** (your tires just went 8's homie lol), fixing ****, etc...Your car WILL be a priority this next season and you WILL be beside me at the track next season!!!

Ron Shearer - you're my boy and you've helped me out several times and you are also a great supporter and a good friend. it means a lot when you come all the way down from Ohio, just to watch me break, and then still associate yourself with me the next day! Thanx brother!

Turbo Dave - for keeping me safe with the new cage. We will be doing a lot more business together. GOt some good ideas for the winter.

Everyone at GADSM & NABR who's watched me go from a broken car for many years to where I'm at today and always stood behind me.

If I left anyone out, please don't take it personal. I will come back and edit it. I'm a bit loopy from lack of sleep over this past weekend.

So, here's the video and some pics....enjoy

I will post up all the pics from the whole event once Colleen uplaods them to kodak gallery
Sorry for the horrid video here, we will have Gleason get his HD vids up asap!

STM Ricer 9.75@150 HD Video From Fayetteville Evo/DSM/Suby Shootout 11-15-09

This is at the Fayetteville NC Evo/DSM/Subaru Shootout today. It was our fist time at this track, in the car, pulling a chute, in a new motor, on new slicks... well, you get the point: We were nervous!

But everything worked out just fine! Ran a best of 9.75@150 and ran 2 other 9 sec passes today as well.

Thanks again to Dave Buschur for one hell of a motor and all your help!
Thanks to Driven Innovations for a sick manifold!
Thanks to Jon at TRE for building a transmission & transfer case that loves to be abused!
Thanks to Evan at Exedy for hooking us up with that clutch!

We ended up taking 2nd place in the event for fastest car. Big props to the 1st place red GSX in the video! This pass was his best time to date at 8.8@165! Congrats!! (And for the record, that red gsx is my second favorite car on the planet :) so I was ecstatic to see the two of them line up!!)

Hopefully this winter we can make another trip South to hit up some more tracks! It was great to meet everyone this weekend! The Epic guys, Robbie, Bobbie, Jason... great shop and great group of guys! Thanks for all your help and hospitality!

We are at a hotel now and still 300+ miles from home, so we will work on more videos and pictures from the weekend, but I do believe it's 4:09 am, so...

Emery is getting some much needed sleep now, so he'll chime in later on. But great job Emery, that car is a handfull, not only does he have to worry about driving it, but but if he scratched it...    And thanks to all our own STM guys this weekend. It's great to be part of this family!

Today I went to the 1/4 mile today and ran my car twice. I launched the car at 6k rpm. For my first run I ran a 13.3 with a 60ft at 1.9 and trap speed at 105. I know it sucks.{thumbdwn}. Then I ran again and I ran a 13.2 with a 60ft at 1.8 and trap speed at 102. Little better.{thumbup}. Today was my first time ever running the quatermile so I was still newbie on how to run the quarter mile. According to the website u can give the weight of the car and the trap speed and it will give u a horsepower rating. I think it is to wheel horse power. According to them my car is about 289 whp. I got it street tune. the mods for my car are
HKS TI turboback exhaust
DIY ported exhaust
DIY ported 10.5 hotside
K&N drop in filter
Ebay lower intercooler piping
Ebay ported 02 housing
Ebay test pipe
XS Engineering downpipe
Evo 9 bov
HKS 264 cams
ACT mb7-hdss

SO WHAT YA THINK...would I make more power and better time with a dyno tune and what ya think of my runs...does it match my mods...I don't mind whatever ya say...good or bad...it is good to me...{thumbup}

Today, Tony and I met a few of the Forced Performance gang at Dallas Raceway for our first TNT session on the new FP BLACK Turbo. This turbo kicks some serious tail. Tony and I discussed our goals for the day and none of those included making any full pass runs on high boost. With that said, we made one wastegate pressure only pass (23-25 psi), two passes at 33-35 psi and a couple more to let me test high boost, but only for the 3rd and 4th gear ranges.

The results of the day were pretty satisfying for both of us. On the 23-25 psi run, Tony ran 10.6 at 134.98 mph. Most of our runs were made with 22 psi in the tires and specific instructions to shift no higher than 8,000.

On the first run of the day, roll out launch, 8k shifts, the car went 10.8 at 141 mph. On the very next pass, same settings (28-35 peak boost) the car again went 10.8 at 142.79 mph. Very smooth runs, low boost (for us) and not too shabby for first runs on a new tune, rusty driver and aging old man. Fun! Making it even more fun was having some of the FP crew there to share the time.

Not being through with TNT, I'm working on a new boost setup, so I decided to dial it up a bit and see what would happen. I didn't raise my boost cut, but I set the turbo to run the same 33-35 psi through the run and then raised the boost at about early to mid 4th gear. The results surprised all of us. 9.77 at 126.10 mph. That's right, 126! Boost cut was hit 3 times just after shifting to 4th so Tony just coasted through the lights. The next run was nearly the same thing, except I made a change to the controller and we hit boost cut sooner in 3rd gear and ran a couple of passes of 10.6 at 99 mph!

All in all, we had a great, fun day and got some badly needed testing. Tony just wanted to get the feel of the car again and I needed to start dialing the car in. It was pretty clear by the starter and those who were watching that extremely low 9's or even better are well within reach. Nice job today Tony. Dad had fun and the car left the track without a scratch.
Posted by Tony, so I thought I would put it in this first post.

This was already a couple weeks ago, but things have been busy lately and it took me a while to get the video pieced together. We made it out for the last time of the season 10-18-09 and, unfortunately, left with a big window in the block.

Pass 1:
Off the trailer at ~44psi it rattled the tires, I pedaled it and I thought it was a bad pass so I lifted about 100-150ft early - 8.39 at 158mph on a 1.29x 60'

Pass 2:
Try to add more boost but it doesn't make any more. I need a stiffer wastegate spring. 8.37 at 165mph on a 1.290 60' - new best ET.

Pass 3:
Minor tune change that didn't make any more power. Best ET of the year:
1.294 60'
3.561 330'
5.408 at 133.96 1/8mi
6.997 at 153.06 1000'
8.358 at 164.90 1/4mi

Pass 4:
Try to make an intake cam timing change. Find out the Haltech software won't target negative value in the table. Shook the tires at the top of 1st and shifted while pedaling it so it bogged a little. 8.48 at 164mph on a 1.31 60'

Pass 5:
Lined up with Scott's RWD car. Made a cam timing change. A rod let go at 8600rpm in third gear (~150mph). The catch pan caught everything, so that was good, but our day and season are over.

We're done for the year. I expect it will make more power at more boost, but I need to change the wastegate spring to run more. I thought I had at least 5psi more I could go before it would blow the wastegate open with the 12psi spring but I guess I was wrong on that. It is just now hitting 1:1 backpressure at 43-44psi.
