How to bypass the injector resistor box

Yes it may seem trivial to most people as it is a fairly simple task, however some people don't know why it needs to be done, or what the resistor box is.

***DO NOT REMOVE THE RESISTOR INJECTOR BOX IF YOU HAVE LOW IMPEDANCE INJECTORS, OR PLAN TO INSTALL UPGRADED LOW IMPEDANCE INJECTORS***

This how to is for people that want to replace the evos low impedance injectors for high impedance (saturated) injectors such as the new Injector Dynamics injectors.

1. Locate and remove the injector resistor box. It is located on the passenger side firewall directly behind the oil dipstick.

2. Cut the harness in half, but leave enough room if you ever need to splice the injector box back on to the connector.

3. Strip the insulation back about 3/4" on each wire and then tin each wire with a soldering iron. Crimp all the wires together using a butt splice, solder the connection, and heat shrink it to keep it from the weather, and also so you don't ground out the 11-12 volts that is now flowing through it

4. Reinstall the connector "pigtail" and go ahead and install those injectors now{thumbup}

I recently installed an EVC VI boost controller in my 2006 MR and currently have it sitting on top of my steering column. Which now that the double sided tape is no longer sticky it tends to slip and lay flat. I would like this monitor to be located on the dash area to my right (in a left side drive evo), starting right of the slope from the gauge cluster and stop about 2 inches left of the airbag. I'm trying to find a pre-made bracket or fabricate a bracket that will use the existing vent screws (or something behind the dash) behind the carbon fiber dash trim and come out between the carbon fiber trim and the upper dash, then go vertical about 2 inches and turn back 90 degrees making a gauge/monitor mounting surface that doesn't involve applying double-sided tape or velcro(sp). I thought about possibly using the monitor holders from Apexi or Blitz but those still involve attaching it to the surface of the dash in some way, shape or form. I've started trying to fabricate one and I have a decent prototype but it will need ALOT of work and adjustment before I'm happy with it; or at least think it's good enough to sand, prime, and paint. Please, let me know if any of you have ever seen anything like this or have made one yourselves. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks :mitsu: :helpme:

How To: Pump Gas/E85 Refueling method

This is a step-by-step procedure that will ensure that you are refueling correctly.

1. When you notice that you gas light is on, proceed to the nearest gas station of your choosing. For the most part, they all carry the same gasoline, just branded differently. Also, some people suggest that waiting until your needle points to the "E" is a bad idea because your pick up screen on your pump will get clogged with any debris that is floating in the bottom of your tank. This is a ridiculous notion. Your pickup is always at the same level in relation to the bottom of your tank, so any debris that is sloshing around in their is going to have just as easy a time in finding the pickup as it did when your tank was full. It is however a bad idea to run a pump dry because your fuel actually cools the pump and keeps the pump shaft rpms low, and repeated dry running will eventually cause premature wear of your pump motor due to dry running.

2. Your filler door is on the drivers side(the side you sit in), so don't forget to pull up with the gas pump on the same side.

3. Shut off your car, and pull up(not down) on the gas filler door release. This involves turning the key counter-clock wise, and then locating the filler door release which is right in front of the seat you are sitting in.

4. Exit vehicle, and do not forget to engage the emergency brake.

5. Pay for your gas

6. Open gas filler door, and unscrew gas cap

7. Select gas grade, insert pump nozzle in filler neck opening, and depress gas pump handle to begin filling tank

8. Remove pump handle when gas shuts off automatically, and replace on pump

9. Screw down gas cap in filler neck and stop after it clicks 3 times

10. Close filler door

That wasn't so hard was it? If you have any questions, let me know. I'll try to update this thread later tonight once I get a chance to upload my photos, and once I figure out the torque spec of the gas cap.
