Low priced coilovers that DON'T suck.....Eibach coilovers and more!!!!
Sometimes it's amazing to see how cheap coilovers can get. And while the Chinese budget coilovers pack a lot of "features".....the damping is downright terrible and you have hardly any suspension travel to work with. 32 clicks of adjustment doesn't mean much if all 32 clicks suck!
And now here's a known suspension manufacturer with a great reputation with some high quality coilovers at a realistic price you can afford. Available for all levels...street, auto-x, and hardcore track. The dyno plots look GREAT and the spring rates are very good. I have to say I'm impressed with EIBACH!
Feel free to give me a call or PM if you have any questions on why you should trust your suspension to the experts at Eibach in Germany, rather than the cheap crap you find elsewhere at this price point.
Free shipping applies to continental US only.

There hasn't been many decent options in the 1-2k range for EVO in the past. But now there are. These really are a fantastic way to get your EVO X to handle well without sacrificing ride quality and build quality like the cheap crap ones you see all over the place.
And of course, when you buy from GTWorx/Racecomp, you're getting a wealth of suspension knowledge to back you up and help you set the car you want it to handle.

Andrew's top 5 things to look for in a coilover
1. A solid US presence from the manufacturer. Can you have them rebuilt quickly and easily without sending them to China, Japan, Germany, Afghanistan, etc.?
2. Spring rates. If a manufacturer puts softer springs in the rear for the EVO....it's a good sign they don't know what they are doing. Seriously big red flags should go up if they do this.
3. Can you get someone on the phone to talk to you about the shock and how to adjust? How about good alignment settings? How about being able to do that on the weekend when you're at the track?
4. Damper travel. You can't soak up mid-corner bumps (or potholes) if you only have an inch of travel before hitting the bumpstops. Lots of coilovers are like this unfortunately. Separate ride height and preload adjustment is nice, but if you have hardly any travel to start with....sorry....you're gonna have some trouble.
5. Valving. The hardest to see and the hardest to evaluate. Shock dyno plots are helpful but can be difficult to understand and not always available. Can the vendor explain how the shock will feel and the reasoning behind the valving?
Remember....a kidney crunching ride is NOT always fast.

KW Variant 3. Great value for the EVO X owner who wants a track worthy shock that offers double adjustable damping and solid spring rates at a good price. We have tons of experience with KW and can help dial them in.
Please call or PM.

The Vorshlag guys are doing some great work developing the AST 5000 series dampers for the EVO X. Beefy, inverted front struts, remote canisters, custom built to order.

Basically, if you want to compete and win....you get JRZ. We share shop space with Bryan of JRZ and get to watch him rebuild and revalve Porsche race shocks all day. The level of service is incredible and we're very fortunate to be able to work with him and learn more about shocks in the process.
Please call for more information. These shocks are custom built to order and are the ULTIMATE in suspension engineering for your EVO.

question about the Eibach R1. can't see clearly from the thumb nail. does it come with front camber plate? helper springs? and most importantly, is there an extension like the Ohlins for the rear damping adjustment?

They do include helper springs. You would reuse the stock top mounts....we can supply you with plates, but for most people you'll get enough camber out of the stock adjustments anyway.

Andrew,
It seems the KW Variant 2 and the new Eibach single adjustable are very comparable. Which do you prefer between these two and why? If one were to ask for custom spring rates in the Eibach would the valving also be customized to match? What is the cost for custom rates/valving?
Thanks!

I prefer the Eibachs....because the KW V2's are not available for EVO.
What sort of custom rates would you be looking for? The singles have very good adjustment range and may not need to be revalved depending on what you're going for.
