How long do you guys let your car warm up in winter time?

Im just wondering what u guys think about warming up your car during winter time a minute or 5-10minutes? Is it even necessary to warm your car up to the middle mark and then drive off or is a few minutes fine and let it warmup as u drive? I usually let mine run for 10min and then i drive but i still dont get on it right away i try to shift at least 2500 until i driven a mile or so. I heard letting your car warmup for longer then 2min wastes gas and i heard its not good for the motor to let it warmup?

Our temps out here range from 30f-negatives but im running 5w-40 synthetic so since its thin it should be flowing threw everything fast enough and i dont think i need to let it warmup for 10min maybe like 5 and let it warmup as i drive it?

I read that Idling forces an engine "to operate in a very inefficient and gasoline-rich mode that, over time, can degrade the engine's performance and reduce mileage.Idling causes carbon residues to build up inside the engine, which reduces its efficiency.

During summer, I'll let it idle for maybe 30 seconds to a min at cold start. Winter time is a little longer. Takes me maybe 5-8 cranks to even get it to fire but once it's on I have to let it warm up for around 10 min from a dead cold start otherwise it stalls when I try to drive.

Running e85 with 1250 injectors and big cams doesn't help the cold start

But the main thing is to get the oil flowing and that takes maybe 30 seconds. Once that's done you should be fine driving slow until it's fully warmed up

I alway's warm the car up before I drive it in the winter. When your car is cold it's in "closed loop" meaning the computer is adding more fuel to aid in reaching optimal temperature. So it doesn't matter whether you have it idling while warming up or driving it.

Wrong. When your car is cold, it is in OPEN loop. It technically doesnt know how rich or lean you are until it gets to a certain temperature, when the 02 sensors start to give feedback to the ECU to adjust A/F ratio, is when your in closed loop.

Has nothing to do with adding fuel to reach the optimal temperature.
