Trading in for an Evo 8. Opinions?

Hey guys I have a steptronic 04 330ci with 33 thousand miles. Im thinking of selling it and getting an 05 evo 8 with 30 thousand miles for 22k. What do you guys think? I know your opinions will probably be biased but I'm new to evos and would like to know more about them before taking action? Would the evo cost more to mantain than my bmw?

The evo would cost less if you dont beat on it much, you should change the oil regularly though, 3K miles, the mileage is good but you can get a IX for 22K now a days, its sad but true.

what are your plans?

it's not going to be remotely close luxury or comfort wise

but it'll be a way better driving experience

I plan on keeping it as my daily driver. I plan on just keeping it stock maybe some muffler modifications but nothing major. Would you go from a 330ci to an evo?

I would do it, but 22k for a evo 8 is a bit much, I seen some here In Orlando going for 16,500, for 22k you should be able to get an ix, and as for comfort and luxury, u won't think bout it once u feel that boost, I driven both cars and evo is much more enjoyable, trust me, between both, BMW is not the "ultimate" driving machine lol, Unless you can get ur hands on a newer M3, but then again modified evos will walk all over that too

yeah thats kinda steep for a 05 evo 8, you can get a evo 9 for around 22k, which is a better platform to work off of.

What is the maintenance cost for evos? I heard they are pretty expensive to maintain. I live in Los Angeles California so car prices are a little pricier out here. That was one of the cheaper evos I could find with that low of mileage.

If u take it somewhere for an oil change your looking at $75 for a synthetic amsoil or $70 or higher depending on where you live for mobil 1, u have to put premium gas, I use 93 octane. Other than that as long as you don't beat the crap out of it you should be ok, once ur 30k or 45k or 60k service is ready then your gonna be set back at least $200 or higher depending on where you go. Brake pads will cost $190 for hawk or higher as you get more performance oriented,

I don't know how much it cost to maintain a BMW, but the maintenance on an Evo is not cheap nor easy. Especial when it comes to the Transmission, transfer case, and differential fluid. If you're gonna go with OEM fluid then you're looking at $100+ for tranny fluid and $50 for the transfer case and diff. Changing then requires a bit of work as well.

The cost to maintain an evo for a DD who doesn't beat the car(street race, track race, or 1/4mile) is low. Change your oil every 3-5k miles with mobil 1 or us Amsoil SS series with an Amsoil filter and you get 15k out of the oil changes. Change your driveline fluid every 15k and your good to go. Alot of us evo guys are pushing the limits of our cars so things go sometimes quickly. But even the clutch there are owners out there who have gotten over 100k on stock clutch

When I owned my Evo I thought about going to a 330 and couldn't bring myself to do it. It just didn't have enough nuts for me. It took the 335 to convince me to jump ship. If you like to drive like a bit of a hooligan every now and again you'll like the Evo way more.
