whats really needed for 450hp?
I am trying to figure what mods are really needed for 450hp on 93oct, for daily driving until I build the engine later down the road
Mods
kelford 272 cams
crower valve springs+retainers
walbro 255hp
TBE
Act clutch kit
Injen Intercooler pipe set
aem wideband
aem true boost control
street tuned.
car ran 12.3@110 last weekend, I assume the car is making 350hp right now.
I have a ported fp black sitting in my room, I plan on getting a buschur 3.5 street intercooler and 1200cc injectors.
now I know the turbo is a bit overkill but I will want more later.
so do you think that a ported exhaust manifold, intake,65mm TB,and swaintech coating for the hotside, and exhaust manifold is needed to make this power? or will it be fine without it for now.
thanks!!

I think u will be fine but honestly there isnt much results on the black to know what it can make... but my opinion u will be find but for a little more power I would go ahead and get that stuff mainly port the manifold

There's a big difference between pump gas and e85 on the stock appearing turbos. The bigger housing turbos can do quite a bit on pump gas.
If you're set on 93 then get a bigger turbo.

I have almost all the same mods you do (different companies on some parts; Kelfords rock!) I'm installing a ported FP Red and PPI Ported EM/IM/hotside/O2/65mm TB in the next few weeks along with some 1000cc injectors and getting tuned by Mellon. It'd be nice to make 450 on pump...
The ported stuff can't hurt, but I don't know how much they will add to the final numbers. I think until we build our engines, get non-stock IM/EM or O2 dump, or switch to E-85 we will both be limited in how much power our engines will make.

Port the TB, intake and exhaust mani's, get an external dump 02 housing, or divorced with recirc at least, ETS 3.5" FMIC, HKS DLI ignition, crank up the boost to like 27-28psi, or get meth and hit 33-34psi, you should break 450whp
But with your mods you shoulda hit at least 11.9 @ 115, if I were you I would work on the driving, with the mods in my sig I went 12.1 first pass ever @ 113, and my 1/8th times were 7.8 @ 90mph good enough for an 11.8 with a 1.6 60', I was cutting a 1.8 60'

well I am looking into converting to e85 since there is a station 8miles down the road. I just need to figure the injector sizing, also I still only want to run the single walbro for now. I will set up duel maps for 93oct and e85.

If you switch to E-85 you should already be at 450 at least with the mods you have and the stuff to install. I am at 475ish with the mods in my sig and the black should be able to do that easily based on what i've heard.

H/P shouldn't be your goal 1320 should be. If you switch over to E85 you should run minimum 1000cc injectors (id go with 1200) and with a red you should have NO problems reaching your power goals. As far as the pump goes, well see if the 225 keeps up if not your going to have to run a dual setup or go another route.

+1 to this. That is what was going on with me, we are pretty sure with a few more tweaks and porting my intake and exhaust manifolds we could hit 500, but I am running out of fuel around 480, so we dialed it back. I need a double pump setup, but I am shopping for a built motor before I go down that road.

Easy! Get a Magnus v5 and throw that on with the Black. The magnus will net you great power on pump. It will allow you to run a lot more timing and your car won't be near as knock happy. We have a bunch on "normal" modded FP Reds at 450 here in the NW. I think the Black will get you were you want!
Pump setup:
1) Magnus v5 w/ ETS Short Route UICP
2) I would go 1200cc injectors so you have room to grow.
3) Milspec 65mm TB - We have 700hp cars on stock tb and doesn't seem to be limiting hp!
4) Port Exhaust Manifold
5) "BLACK"
6) External dump 02
7) Full 3in Exhaust
8) ETS 3.8 Garrett FMIC FTMFW
9) FP 18psi wastegate
10) A good EBC so you can hold 30psi to redline (on the black I don't think you will have a problem holding 29-30psi to redline)
11) Get a nice big 4in intake with foam filter, unless you drive in a dirty place
12) Get a 50mm BOV so that you don't leak. There are tons of BOVs that leak. The Tial and TurboSmart Raceport are both great BOVs.
You should be able to run 30psi no problem and should break 450 on pump. Remember on pump it's all about air flow because unlike meth/E85/Q you just can't turn the boost up to make power. You need to make the most power on the lowest boost since your limited!
Good luck on your build
Mikey

Does the magnus require special upper intercooler piping? Will it slow my spool down? Man it's gonna take some time to save up for all those parts

350 engine hp or wheel hp?
With a 110 trap, I can tell you right now that you do not have that much power.
I was trapping 116-117 on 93 oct with less mods (340 whp on DLL).

well I used one of those 1/4 mile calculators based on my time to figure my hp. I believe if my 2-step was higher I could have got a better time. Right now it's only set to 5000 rpm.
