Amsoil Synthetic Power Steering Fluid?

Anybody using this fluid instead of the Mitsu stuff?

The Power Steering pump on my IX (less than 30K miles) seems to whine quite a bit more at start up (when cold) than when warm. It always has done this, even when the car was new. I was wondering if anyone here is using the Amsoil PS fluid (or any other PS fluid) and has noticed a difference in sound and/or performance.

Thanks.

*Sniffs* That smell. It's the smell of the AMSOIL spokespeople, rousing from their sleep. They will soon swoop in, like vultures, big, awesome, AMSOIL-backed testing vultures, and descend upon this thread.

We will be inundated with smiles, thumbs-up smiles, piss poor typing, confusing rhetoric, and finally, the most powerful weapon in their arsenal: AMSOIL sponsored oil testing.

Flee, wntanEVO, flee before it is too late. I have nothing to lose; I will sacrifice myself to protect you. My life has meant nothing up until now; I have had nothing to live for, no wife, no children. I take you, wntanEVO, as my squire, and will ensure you see the dawn of tomorrow.

Flee.

Go, my son. Go.

, thanks hotdog. Unfortunately, Mitsu doesn't give us much room for selection in regards to the PS fluid. I can't find any specs on what is required so it makes other selections difficult. Amsoil's site does recomend their fluid but I don't know anyone using it in the EVO, nor have I heard of someone using anything else other than the Mitsu PS fluid. If there is another fluid that meets or exceeds Mitsu's requirements(????), what is it and where can I get it? if someone is using something else, what are you using and how does it perform?

It's the belt that you should check and not the fluid. Make sure it's tight and torque-spec.

Use OEM for PS, you won't notice a difference from others because it's all the same thing.

Use any ATF. When you go to autoparts store and ask for Mitsu PS fluid, they will direct you to ATF.

ATF CANNOT be used in all power steering systems.

When I searched applications for the EVO, they all called specifically for Power Steering Fluid, NOT ATF.

Similar searches for other vehicles did list ATF...

PS Fluid should be siphoned from the reservoir about every 6 months and topped off with the proper fluid.
