Thumbs down new 06 evo mr owner!! i have problems.

First of all i got jipped by the stealership with this one. Carfax was clean but the previous owner (i'm #2) paid for damages of running over a tire in the middle of the road and destroying the undercarriage and ripping off the oil pump. Its all fixed and good now but theres a few problems i'm running into.

1. After the first week with the car the clutch when pushed in starting banging when pushed in even a bit. It happened when i was at a stop sign. weird i know. that went away after driving it for 3 blocks.

2. now when i push in the clutch you hear a weird clicking noise varying on volume and speed. put only sometimes and while driving i need the front window down to hear it.

3. The o2 sensor behind the cat keeps popping the service engine soon light on. then goes away. then comes back.

all this happend in 3 weeks and the stealership said nogo on returning it. for now i need help with the noises mostly!! has any1 experienced the clutch click? Its not the throwout bearing and i took it to someone who sez it might b the crankshaft hitting a sensor (which is very bad) but i'm not sure. please help!!

not sure about those issues though...do you still have the car or is it a hfc or test pipe?

If its under warranty get it fixed!. If not call your lawyer.
That service light is easy fix. Just get 2 anti fouler and you are good to go.

I get my service light on only when I install sliencer on mine(for long drive) but when I take it out light goes off.

In NY there is a standard 30 day warranty on used cars. Check the laws in your state. Almshouse

if you really want to get rid of it check local lemon laws. ex had to do this with an eclipse, if you take it in and have it documented that it was for the same problam and that they cant or wont fix it they have to take it back and always threat them with leagal action tell them you really dont want to get a lawyer but you will....

good luck man

yeah, that 02 is fixable, however there is two codes for it, one that senses too rich, and one that senses the rear 02 not reading ne air for 2 min on the bank... i think its p0401 and/or p1607...

Previous owner could have totally abused the car and with the Evo's the stock clutch goes quick. If your planning to mod the car anyways, look into upgrading that first. Like everyone else is saying the o2 is pretty simple fix.

Thank everyone for the help. i bought this car with a guaranteed full factory warranty but when i took it in a local mitsubishi dealership to get the sound checked at and the o2 sensor changed thats when they told me on the mitsubishi super screen about the accident. with that accident on there the factory warranty is null and void for the engine and transmission. sucky. that's about 3 weeks after i bought the car on april 14, 2009. its a Graphite Gray IX MR. it came from new york. had the accident in New Jersey and was sold at Exotic motors in Chicago. Chris Auffenberg of Kirkwood, mo. bought this car from them and i bought it from kirkwood. i bought it with 20,360. its at 21, 122 now. fyi the clutch is smooth. ive had no problems with the clutch itself.

It sucks cause ive been wanting an evo ever since the VII came out. when the VIII came out in USA i wanted one so bad. Now with my new job i could finally afford one and then all this happens. I really do want this car but if i knew after the oil accident theres no way i wouldve bought it for the price i paid. I have the attorney general working on it. That gets stuff done alot faster than just highering a lawyer. well at least thats what ive heard.

also, im still learning alot this car but what is an anti fouler? sry stil an evo n00b with alot of reading still ahead of me.

not the p0401 as that is an EGR valve code (i've got a pesky one right now that wont leave me alone, lol)

Darn, that's really unfortunate. Buying a used high-performance tuner car like the Evo is something that I considered before, but my instincts kept telling me no-no-no. This is from a guy with over a decade experience purchasing used automobiles. Evos attract the racer crowd, and with that comes the big possibility of abuse and perhaps a history of "incidents" (not neccesarily accidents).

Good luck, I hope you get that sorted out :-)

OP: I also have had bad experience with a local stealership that I bought my car from. Long story short, they still have my car and it's been almost a month..I've actually used their loaner car more than my own car at the moment, which sux to the extreme coz my monthly is due in early June. They keep saying that it's a cel w/ egr issues and had to order a particular hose that took almost a week just for the friggin' hose alone to get! (B/S imo) Then they say the tech called in sick one day, then he gets nehind on his work, etc etc etc...excuse after lame excuse...anyways, I just hope we both get our cars back or get all things resolved..like you, I've told them that legal action is on the way in hopes that this makes them start to actually do some work...now they're saying they've acquired a different comp reader just so they can be sure what the issue is...(MORE B/S imo)
